The Friendship Algorithm - S2-E13
Corrected entry: When Sheldon was stuck in an infinite loop in his "friendship flowchart", Howard created an escape which he labeled "LDA"; however, Sheldon referred to it as "Least Objectionable Activity", which would be "LOA."
Corrected entry: At the apartment, after pretending to eat some of the granola bar, Howard throws the bar and wrapper down on the coffee table. He does not pick it up again before they leave the apartment. Later, at the hospital, he takes the bar from his pocket and eats some.
Correction: No, he breaks a chunk off the bar and stuffs it in his back pocket so it would look like he took a bite. This is what he removes at the hospital.
The Spaghetti Catalyst - S3-E20
Corrected entry: When Sheldon says goodbye to Howard after walking with him on the street, he says "BYE, SHEL" instead of "BYE, HOWARD".
The Precious Fragmentation - S3-E17
Corrected entry: The "ring" prop is alleged to be one used in "The Lord of the Rings" movies. However, the prop used in the TV show has a gold chain, but in the films Frodo's ring is held on a silver chain.
Correction: The chain isn't what's important. It's the ring. The chain is not part of the prop.
The Rothman Disintegration - S5-E17
Corrected entry: After Sheldon has told Barry about the rules of Rock/Paper/Scissors/Lizard/Spock for the first time, Barry then replies "I'm sorry, can you repeat that." When he says "repeat", he correctly pronounces the "r." However, it has already been established throughout the series that Barry pronounces all his Rs like Ws due to his speech impediment.
Correction: Barry doesn't always mispronounce the letter R. It can happen with certain Rs and Ls.
Corrected entry: Sheldon states that the "Reinheitsgebot" would have severely limited the availability of mead in 1487. This is wrong for two reasons, the first being that the most commonly known version of this law wasn't introduced until 1516 and secondly this law only defined the price and the ingredients of beer and had therefore nothing to do with other alcoholic beverages like mead. (00:00:20)
Correction: Purity Law or "Reinheitsgebot" was actually introduced in 1487, the Bavarian Law replaced this in 1516. In addition, the law was in effect on the production of beers in the broad sense of the word, it's main purpose was to reduce the need for "precious' resources like grain wheat and rye and also reduce the usage of 'pagan' plants and materials. In addition, the existence of law only effective on beers would suggest that mead was indeed not likely highly available.
The Locomotion Interruption - S8-E1
Corrected entry: Sheldon says he was in a fire while taking a train through Des Moines. The largest Des Moines in Iowa has not had passenger rail service since 1970, and the much smaller Des Moines in Washington and New Mexico have never had it at all.
Correction: There may not be a station operating in Des Moines, but there are passenger rail tracks that go through it, stopping at Osceola. The fire could have happened on the train, as he does not specifically mention being at a station there.
The Adhesive Duck Deficiency - S3-E8
Corrected entry: There is no way Sheldon would have been able to hear Penny call him for help as as he did, through four closed doors, two rooms and a hallway.
The Raiders Minimization - S7-E4
Corrected entry: When Leonard and Penny are doing the 'business' at the university and Howard knocks on the door, Leonard opens and says "hey Si" (Howard's real name - Simon Helberg).
Correction: He says "Hey, sorry," while panting - he's apologising for taking so long to answer the door.
The Monster Isolation - S6-E17
Corrected entry: When Leonard tells Sheldon to hand over his Nintendo DS, Sheldon gives him a shiny aqua console. The Nintendo DS has never been produced in that color: the console is actually a 3DS, not a DS.
Correction: Semantics. To most people, "DS" is sufficient enough to specify all of the Nintendo DS consoles. The same way that "Xbox" is sufficient enough to specify the Xbox 360.
Corrected entry: In the opening song, one line is 'Autotrophs began to drool'. In fact, Autotrophs are self feeding organisms like plants, not animals, and so therefore cannot drool.
Correction: Autotrophs are in fact plants. Trees are the most common form of "plant". Trees seep. The Maple Leaf tree has been known to seep water, which, poetically, is drooling.
The Nerdvana Annihilation - S1-E14
Corrected entry: When Leonard starts packing his action figures away, the box says "Leonard's collectables. The spelling should be "collectibles" - an unlikely mistake from someone of Leonard's intellect.
Correction: Both spellings are correct. I checked thirty six online dictionaries and they all list "collectable" and "collectible" as the correct spelling.
The Agreement Dissection - S4-E21
Corrected entry: For an obsessive genius Sheldon makes a stupid mistake when he blackmails Leonard into signing a new roommate agreement - any contract signed under duress is invalid. He gains nothing from Leonard signing the new agreement as no other action on his part is required. Effectively Sheldon has got his autograph. Big deal. Leonard is free to ignore the new agreement if he feels like it - and his lawyer was there to witness the fact that he was forced against his will to sign in the first place. This also begs the question of why Priya gets in such a panic about Sheldon blackmailing Leonard by threatening to reveal details of their relationship to her parents - why didn't she just advise Leonard to sign on the dotted line, explaining later that he signed an invalid contract? It would certainly have saved her a lot of grief.
Correction: Priya might have brought the idea of the letter of the law in, but Sheldon has never actually sued anyone for violating the roommate agreement. Leonard abides by it because otherwise Sheldon will become unliveable with. Priya won't give Leonard any more advice because of the risk that Sheldon will tell Priya's parents about Leonard's relationship.
The Robotic Manipulation - S4-E1
Corrected entry: Howard explains the ease with which he "borrowed" the programmable robot arm thus : "You just have to take it out to your car as if you own it". Howard doesn't have a car - he has a Vespa scooter, and there is no way he could carry the robot arm on that. (While we are on the subject, how does he transport it from Sheldon and Leonard's apartment to his house?).
The Staircase Implementation - S3-E22
Corrected entry: When Sheldon tells Leonard about the time travel clause, he states "in precisely five seconds." Anybody who knows anything about time travel know that you need a definitive point in time, so without having that exact date and time written down somewhere, there's no way a future version of them could arrive at that unspecified time. Sheldon's too anal to ignore something like that.
Correction: The precise time would be slightly before the signing of the Roommate Agreement, which is about to happen, so it's a markable point in their histories/future histories.
Corrected entry: Sheldon makes fun of Leonard's idea to go to Raj's for dinner by speculating that they could stop using the letter M, which would be "isguided and oronic. Later he says that "This is adness. Complete and utter adness. He should have said "This is adness. Coplete and utter adness., leaving the M out of the word "complete" - and there is no way a pedantic, obsessive genius like Sheldon would make a mistake like that.
Correction: I viewed this scene more than 10 times and listened closely and Sheldon says, "This is adness; this is utter and coplete adness. He does in fact take the "m" out of the word complete.
The Adhesive Duck Deficiency - S3-E8
Corrected entry: When Penny and Sheldon get into the car to drive to the hospital, she makes the remark, "You do have a learner's permit, right?" He answers yes and explains he has logged several simulation hours which ended badly. She already knows he has a learner's permit and about the simulations, since in season 2, "The Euclid Alternative," she was with him at the DMV when he got the permit and stood beside him during the simulation, actually hitting him in the face with a pillow to mimic an airbag when he crashed.
Correction: Actually, after Sheldon said that it was the first time driving an actual vehicle, she said "you do have 'your' learners permit, right?" It was an indirect reference to the fact that (approx) a year had passed (a season for us viewers) and he had not stepped into an actual vehicle. Penny has been known to be sarcastic from time to time.
The Zazzy Substitution - S4-E3
Corrected entry: The proposition that danishes wouldn't exist if Copenhagen were flooded is wrong, because "danishes" were created by Austrian bakers. They are called danish in English-speaking countries because they're very popular in Denmark. The Danish word for this pastry is wienerbrød, which translates to "Viennese bread."
Correction: The origin of the Danish pastry is often ascribed to a strike amongst bakery workers in Denmark in 1850. The strike caused bakery owners to hire workers from abroad, among them several Austrian bakers, who brought along new baking traditions and pastry recipes.
The Skywalker Incursion - S8-E19
Corrected entry: Leonard refers to a never-ending game of "Bottle of Beer on the Wall" as having 'one times ten to the fourth' bottles of beer. One times ten to the fourth power is just one multiplied by itself a ridiculously large number of times, which equals one. That would be a very short game. Not a mistake a physicist would make.
Correction: One times ten to the fourth is 10,000.
The Extract Obliteration - S6-E6
Corrected entry: Sheldon mentions that he scores a double letter score with a triple word score. On the Words with Friends board, this is impossible.
Correction: That is totally possible when you play on a random board, which has the bonus squares in different places. I have played it with an opening word point total of over 225.
Correction: It is easy for a D to look like an O.
