Leave It To Beaver

Beaver's Tree - S3-E8

Visible crew/equipment: The shadow of the boom mike is visible in the background when Wally is saying that June looks "ritzy". (00:14:45)

Season 5 generally

Other mistake: The opening credits for season 5 show June coming out of the front door with a pitcher of what looks like iced tea, and calling for Ward, Wally and Beaver who are all working outside. But the door opens by itself as she comes out, and then closes by itself behind her. If the entire family is outside, who opened and closed the door?

Beaver's Pigeons - S2-E20

Visible crew/equipment: As Ward and June are discussing the pigeons, the camera moves in for a close-up - and its shadow becomes visible on the left sleeve of June's dress. (00:11:40)

Her Idol - S2-E6

Continuity mistake: When Linda is up in the tree talking with Beaver, her hair braids keep changing position; sometimes they're over her shoulders and sometimes not. (00:05:00)

Teacher Comes to Dinner - S3-E9

Continuity mistake: As the family is sitting at the breakfast table during one of the very first scenes, Beaver gets up to leave for school. The checkered napkin in his lap falls to the floor as he walks to the back door. The camera cuts back to the table where the napkin has magically reappeared.

Beaver Becomes a Hero - S4-E3

Character mistake: When Ward is reading the article in the paper about Beaver saving a girl from drowning ("Local Boy in Lake Rescue"), the headline spells his name "Theodour." The misspelled headline is shown twice. (00:11:25 - 00:13:10)

Jeff from Oxford

Wally's Practical Joke - S6-E35

Visible crew/equipment: When Eddie Haskell comes over to scheme getting back at Lumpy, just as Eddie, Wally and Beaver are heading up the stairs, a mike boom is visible in the upper left corner.

John D

It's a Small World - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: As Beaver and Wally are starting upstairs after Ward asks them to go change their shirts for supper, the camera cuts from a long shot of Ward across the room in a chair reading a newspaper, wearing a light grey suit, to a medium close-up of Ward wearing a much darker suit, and then back to the light grey.

The Pipe - S2-E9

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Ward helps June carry the groceries into the house, the bag in his left arm has a loaf of bread sticking out of the top, but as they enter the kitchen the bread is sticking out of the bag in his right arm. It is not even the same size.

Wally's Girl Trouble - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: When Beaver goes to Penny's front door, the door changes in appearance from one shot to the next. (00:23:05)

Jeff Swanson

Wally's Test - S3-E17

Character mistake: As Eddie Haskell and Lumpy Rutherford return from the washroom to Mr. Gannon's history class, Mr. Gannon calls Eddie "Louis."

The Perfect Father - S1-E23

Continuity mistake: As the boys are playing basketball at the Cleavers' house, "Tuey" is shown in the first shot without his glasses, yet immediately in the next shot where he shoots for a basket, he is wearing them. Magical Glasses, indeed.

Beaver, the Caddie - S6-E21

Visible crew/equipment: As Beaver, Gilbert and the golfers walk toward the camera and continue offscreen at the end of the episode, the shadow of a man wearing glasses falls on them (none of the actors were wearing glasses). (00:23:25)

Jeff Swanson

The Dramatic Club - S4-E24

Character mistake: The lady that talks with Miss Landers about the play calls Gilbert Bates "Gilbert Harrison."

The Dramatic Club - S4-E24

Continuity mistake: When June is talking to Wally, she's wearing a wristwatch and her wedding ring on her left hand. But in a close-up shot of her hands while she's making a sandwich, her left hand is bare with no watch or ring. Back to the wide shot, and the watch and ring are on her hand again. (00:05:25)

Wally's Test - S3-E17

Character mistake: When Gilbert and Beaver are talking to their English teacher in the classroom, the teacher addresses them as Mr. Cleaver and Mr. Harris (as opposed to Mr. Bates). This same name discrepancy is referenced on this site in another episode.

Beaver's Tonsils - S4-E20

Continuity mistake: Beaver gets his tonsils out in this episode, but in 3-29 "Beaver's Monkey", Beaver compared the situation in that episode to being just like when he had his tonsils out. Did they grow back?

Eddie, the Businessman - S6-E6

Visible crew/equipment: June and Ward are in the kitchen, Eddie leaves and Ward and June continue talking about Eddie and Wally getting hired at the dairy. The next scene shows the exterior of the house, and a dark figure is seen walking from the house toward the garage on the left side of the screen.

Wally's Girl Trouble - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: Beaver has a frog in hand when Wally is on the phone, then it is not there when Wally hangs up the phone. (00:10:35)

The School Picture - S4-E30

Deliberate mistake: Although it was done for plot purposes, no school photographer would only take just one shot of a class photo. They generally take up to 15 to 20, as it is difficult to get everyone to look at the camera and smile at once (and hopefully not pull silly faces).

Gavin Jackson

June Cleaver: Dear, do you think all parents have this much trouble?
Ward Cleaver: No, just parents with children.

Captain Jack - S1-E3

Trivia: The episode "Captain Jack" was the first time a toilet was shown on TV; the boys buy a baby alligator and Wally is shown putting it in the toilet tank. The network censors were so spooked by the thought of showing a toilet on television that they delayed the episode. And when the censors finally relented, the compromise allowed only the toilet tank to be shown, not the bowl.
