House, M.D. mistake picture

Kids - S1-E19

Factual error: When House is looking over his whiteboard of symptoms for the swimming patient, the symptom "Intercranial Hemorrhage" is shown on the board. However, this is an error. The correct term is "Intracranial Hemorrhage." Anything inside the head is referred to as "intra" not "inter." This is a common mistake for laypeople, however the highly trained and knowledgeable Dr. House should not have made that error. (00:31:25)

Role Model - S1-E17

Factual error: House and Foreman tell the Senator that he has toxoplasmosis, which is caused by a fungus. Toxoplasmosis is actually caused by a protozoan parasite.

Maternity - S1-E4

Factual error: House's team listed the potential offending organisms of the infection as "MRSA, H. Flu, VRE, and pseudomonas." House then suggests Vancomycin and Aztreonam. Vancomycin only covers gram (+) organisms and Aztreonam only covers gram (-) organisms. VRE is a gram (+) organism, thus it would not be covered by Aztreonam. VRE stands for vancomycin resistant enterococcus, thus it would not be covered by Vancomycin either. House's team therefore failed to cover for an offending organism that could have caused the infection during their initial differential. (00:09:10)

Occam's Razor - S1-E3

Factual error: House is playing 'Metroid: Zero Mission' on his Gameboy at various times. The Metroid series does not feature space monkeys, nor are there distinct levels. The sounds coming from the game in the show do not match it in real life, and Samus morphing into a ball is most definitely not a failure state.

Control - S1-E14

Continuity mistake: As House describes the lady's symptoms, in the front shot Chase has a small book/pamphlet in his hand. The camera changes to a side shot in the middle of House's description and suddenly the book is on the table and no longer in Chase's hand. This happens right in the middle of House's line and Chase doesn't make any quick movements to account for this discrepancy.

The Socratic Method - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: When House is talking to Luke about the Vitamin K deficiency and eating the hamburger, the lid on the ketchup bottle is closed on the shots facing House and open on the shots facing Luke.

Maternity - S1-E4

Revealing mistake: All the babies in the incubation room are, very evidently, dolls. When one is moved inside, his cries are heard but he doesn't mouth them.

Suggested correction: There are 4 children in there. How can you tell that the baby heard crying is the one who's crib is being moved?

Detox - S1-E11

Continuity mistake: As Cuddy is making the deal with House, how much time off from Clinic duty for a week off his vicodin, while the camera is behind Cuddy you can see there is bright sunshine on House's head. The shot switches to a camera behind House and now his head is shaded.

Suggested correction: The light is still visible in the shots from behind House, just not as easy to see.

Paternity - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: In the opening scene during the game, one of the shots of the boy is reversed. You can see that the text "Tartans" on his jersey is mirror imaged. (00:00:25)

Kids - S1-E19

Continuity mistake: Foreman is doing a sonogram of Mary's brain. As she comes out of her absent seizure Foreman's probe jumps from the left side of Mary's head to her right.

Maternity - S1-E4

Revealing mistake: The baby that opens the episode is a real one in the close shots and a doll in the others. First of all he doesn't move, and second, his skin colour is totally different.

Maternity - S1-E4

Revealing mistake: Exactly ten minutes to the end, the couple with the baby Maxine are waiting to hear how she is doing. The mom and the husband are sitting on a bench outside the room in which their daughter is being treated. The mom lies down on her husband. She is supposed to have given birth only recently, so she still has a big tummy. As she lies against her husband, however, it is clear that she is wearing a prosthetic stomach: her blue T-shirt tucks and crinkles into and around it in a way that shows it is not an organic part of her.

Role Model - S1-E17

Continuity mistake: House puts down his Gameboy with the cover up and reaches for his vicodin. A couple of seconds of Foreman looking at House and the shot returns to House, as he is still getting his pills, but now the Gameboy's cover is down.

Mob Rules - S1-E15

Other mistake: House has Metroid Hunters on the DS next to the gangster's ear and it shows Samus in a ball rolling around. The way she was rolling couldn't have been achieved because House was holding it, his fingers nowhere near the buttons on the game.

Sports Medicine - S1-E12

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Dr. Chase and Dr. Cameron are out having a drink, Cameron picks up Dr. Foreman's cell phone. Before she does she takes a drink of her soda. This drink drops the level of drink to half full. When Foreman returns a few seconds later she suddenly has a glass that is 3/4 full. There was no time for anyone to give her a refill. (00:18:55)

Maternity - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: The first baby dies on December 2nd. House's clinic patient is four months pregnant, and is given an expected due date in late March. Her due date would actually be in early May, if she's in her fourth month in early December.

Histories - S1-E10

Factual error: When going into anaphylactic shock, the patient is given epinephrine in her forearm. Epi would be given into her lateral thigh, or deltoid muscle. The forearm would be the least ideal place for an IM injection.

Humpty Dumpty - S2-E3

Dr. Foreman: You really want to screw Whitey? Be one of the few black men to live long enough to collect social security. Take the medicine.

Occam's Razor - S1-E3

Question: I apologize I guessed at the episode, it was the one which featured Brandon, the boy who had the pills mix up and had sex with his fiancée at the beginning. I'm a little confused as to the ending, what was the significance of the letters on the pills? Why did the two doctors make a big deal about it when Brandon told them about it? Why was House so pleased to find those two pills in the inventory? It seemed like a sudden end to me.

Answer: You have the right episode. The big deal at the end about the letters on the pills was to show that Brandon had the wrong pills all along. House was smiling because he was right.
