Fine Feathered Finks (1) - S1-E3

Continuity mistake: When Batman starts the Bat-Turn, the parachutes are shown deploying on a 6-lane major roadway (3 lanes in each direction) in a very open area, but after completing the 180-degree turn, the car is shown driving away from the crumpled chutes on a much narrower side street among tall buildings. Batman trivia picture

Trivia: The 1966 T.V. Batmobile was created from a decade-old "concept show car" designed and built in 1955 by Ford's Lincoln Division. It was called the Lincoln Futura, and was originally a pearlescent pale green. After several years on the car show rounds (and an appearance in one movie, repainted red), it was sold for $1 to George Barris who stored it outdoors for 6 years. When FOX called looking for Barris to build a car for the show, they gave him 3 weeks, so he grabbed this already-weird looking car he had out back, sketched a few changes and passed the physical work to Bill Cushenberry. It was finished on time and the rest is history.

Smack in the Middle (2) - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: Just after the Joker tells the fake Robin to turn on her homing beacon, a quick shot of the Batmobile approaching shows it isn't glossy black with cherise red trim as normal, but is instead flat black with white trim. This footage was from pre-series testing, painting the car different ways to see how it would look best on film, but somehow this footage was actually used in the episode by mistake. (00:06:20)

The Penguin Declines (3) - S2-E39

Visible crew/equipment: When Venus is at the Batcave, loads of fisticuffs ensue between the Caped Crusaders, Joker, Penguin and all the baddies. While Robin is up on the atomic pile scaffolding he punches one goon off the ladder, then as he falls we can see the edge of the brown crash mat rise up, right before the word "SPLATT!" appears onscreen. The Joker's Hard Times (2) - S2-E38

Continuity mistake: After Joker enters Commissioner Gordon's office, Gordon and Chief O'Hara walk over to the window, and the Batphone table is behind them, beside Gordon's desk. Then Joker makes two "quick-frozen cops" and runs off to snatch Justice, leaving Gordon and O'Hara immobile. When their shock paralysis wears off, Gordon and O'Hara rush over to Gordon's desk, but the Batphone table and the Batphone have vanished (note the rug's pattern). (00:03:00 - 00:04:55)

Answer: It's wasn't unusual for multiple actors to play one character on this show. The villains on the TV Batman were played by guest stars, not regular cast members. George Sanders, Otto Preminger, and Eli Wallach played the part at various times. They may simply have only wanted to play the part once or twice, or they were later tied up with other projects, making it necessary to cast someone else. Other characters, like Catwoman, were also played by more than one actress.
