I Dream of Jeannie

My Sister, the Homemaker - S5-E12

Visible crew/equipment: At the beginning of the episode, Jeannie is talking on the phone by the stairs and her sister is hiding behind the banister. Her sister stands up for a moment and shows her full face, revealing that it is actually Barbara Eden's stand-in wearing the green costume.

My Master, the Weakling - S3-E5

Other mistake: About 3 minutes into the show, Don Rickles goes around a corner to get some equipment but you can see his left arm at the corner while he's waiting for his spot to come back into the scene.

Invisible House For Sale - S4-E16

Continuity mistake: Throughout this episode, the coat rack behind Major Nelson's front door alternates between having a coat of arms decoration in the middle or nothing in the middle. It seems this episode was filmed while a set change was taking place, since previous episodes feature a hand holding a bell as the center decoration for the coat rack and following episodes feature the coat of arms decoration.

Ride 'Em Astronaut - S4-E15

Audio problem: While Jeannie and Roger are talking in the grocery store, the food cans in Roger's hands hit each other with a hollow thud, revealing that they're both empty. (00:00:40)

Jeff Swanson

The Wedding - S5-E11

Plot hole: In the episode "There Goes the Bride," Haji warns Jeannie that she will lose her powers if she marries Tony. Yet, she marries him in this episode and does not lose her powers.

The Incredible Shrinking Master - S2-E24

Continuity mistake: When Tony is down to mouse-size, he bounces against his full-size tennis racket and skews the strings. He hides, and when the cat walks in front of the racket, the strings are straightened.

The Wedding - S5-E11

Continuity mistake: Jeannie says she can't be photographed. But in earlier episodes she could be.

My Master the Magician - S1-E29

Visible crew/equipment: At the end when Major Nelson is in the magic show, and Jeannie makes him float in the air, you can blatantly see the bar on the levitation device stretching from Major Nelson and disappearing into the curtain.

Meet My Master's Mother - S3-E9

Revealing mistake: The "ocean" behind Tony and his mother is a painted backdrop; the waves aren't moving. (00:20:10)

Jeff Swanson

Djinn and Water - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: Jeannie's great grandfather Bilejk says, "The last time you summoned me to help someone was 1500 years ago." This cannot be possible because she was trapped in her bottle for 2000 years before she was freed by Tony in the first episode.

The Moving Finger - S1-E9

Revealing mistake: Just before Jeannie makes it rain on Tony, the device used for the effect can be seen along the top of the screen, moving from the right to just above Tony's head. (00:14:30)

Jeff Swanson

There Goes the Best Genie I Ever Had - S2-E22

Jeannie, the Hip Hippie - S3-E6

Factual error: At the end of the episode, Major Nelson leaves his Cocoa Beach, Florida, house and drives down the street. Behind the house at the end of the street (which is the home used for the Stephens family on "Bewitched"), there is a mountain. There are no mountains in Cocoa Beach.

The Wedding - S5-E11

Plot hole: As Jeannie is walking down the aisle with Dr. Bellows, she sees the first photographer about to take a photo. A second before the photo is snapped, she blinks in the mannequin, which can be photographed. Later, though, when Jeannie and Tony are watching the film of the wedding, the mannequin is not visible, either. In the film, the photographer can be seen snapping that first photo (at this point, Dr. Bellows is walking down the aisle with the mannequin), but the film still shows Dr. Bellows walking down the aisle alone.

How To Marry an Astronaut - S4-E10

Visible crew/equipment: When Jeannie is swinging outside on Major Nelson's patio, the top of the soundstage and the ropes holding up the backdrop are visible when the camera switches to a low angle. A moment later, it is visible again, but only for a second. (00:09:40)

Operation: First Couple on the Moon - S3-E25

Continuity mistake: Tony goes from wearing a casual jacket to wearing his NASA uniform in the middle of a conversation with Jeannie. (00:14:15)

Jeff Swanson

Guess What Happened on the Way to the Moon? - S1-E3

Revealing mistake: During the episode Tony and Roger are dropped in the desert to see how they can survive for a week. At one point Tony orders Jeannie to stop interfering. She pops out and Tony spots a "large cat" up on a rock. Close up of the cat, shot of Tony picks up rock, shot of cat leaping. You can see a rope tied to the cat.

Here Comes Bootsie Nightingale - S3-E10

Visible crew/equipment: The shadow of the boom mike is visible on the right side of the doorframe when Mrs. Bellows is talking to Roger. (00:00:40)

Jeff Swanson

Jeannie: Master is football more important to you than I am?
Major Nelson: Of course not, that's like comparing oranges and lemons.
Jeannie: And I'm the lemon.

Trivia: The Screen Gems sets of I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched were right next to each other at the studio, and many of the actual sets and props were shared between the two shows. Both shows also shared Dick Albain, the Special Effects expert, who worked on the two shows for quite awhile.
