Star Trek

Wolf in The Fold - S2-E14

New this week Continuity mistake: On the Enterprise, Kirk places a tape cassette in the "Truth Computer" before Scott and the other man sit in the chair. However, a close-up of the computer shows no tape, nor even a slot for one.

The Savage Curtain - S3-E22

New this month Continuity mistake: During the hand-to-hand fight scene, the stunt double playing Spock gets his hair mussed up, but immediately after the fight, Spock's hair is neatly combed and formed, as it was before the fight.

Scott215

The Savage Curtain - S3-E22

New this month Revealing mistake: When Abraham Lincoln shoves the Klingon away from him during their fight, the Klingon collides with a heavy boulder which moves several inches at impact.

Tomorrow is Yesterday - S1-E20

Continuity mistake: When Kirk and Sulu enter the records room, they pick the lock. Later when they beam the officer back down, he enters the room without unlocking the door. The room should be locked since they beamed him down in the "past" erasing their having been on Earth and in the records room.

Mandi3939

The Enemy Within - S1-E6

Revealing mistake: When Kirk beams up from the planet, the insignia on his shirt is not there.

Shore Leave - S1-E16

Visible crew/equipment: You can see the shadow of a boom mike on a tree just after the Caretaker appears.

The Cage - S1-E1

Plot hole: Pike says he doesn't want women on his bridge, Number One being the one and only exception, and he keeps ordering Colt off it. His apology to Number One indicates that A) he doesn't think of her as female, and B) she's the only exception to his rule. So how does he overlook the very female crew-woman seated at the science station? (00:06:55)

Show generally

Deliberate mistake: Special effects of the ship in space were very expensive in the 60s and couldn't be wasted. So when a larger model was built with slightly different nacelles, shots of both versions became common, even within the same episode. This is why the Enterprise sometimes had red needle-tipped nacelles and sometimes lighted "spinning" ones, and in aft views she had either round white spheres or perforated vents at the nacelles' ends.

Charlie X - S1-E3

Continuity mistake: When Capt. Kirk and Charlie enter the turbolift heading for the bridge, Kirk is wearing one style of tunic and when the turbolift arrives on the bridge, Kirk is wearing a completely different tunic.

The Cage - S1-E1

Visible crew/equipment: When the doctor is mixing the drink and Pike gets up off the bed to accept it, an equipment shadow sweeps across the left side of the screen. (00:03:55)

Is There in Truth No Beauty? - S3-E5

Other mistake: In the final scene, Kirk is still in the transporter room, but does not have on a visor when the ambassador transports out. Spock has his visor on, but then you see Kirk walk out of the transporter room without a visor and he is not going mad.

Devil in the Dark - S1-E26

Revealing mistake: A straight and level seam connecting the top and bottom halves of the tunnel Spock is crawling through is visible.

Scott215

Tomorrow is Yesterday - S1-E20

Factual error: Towards the end of the show the Enterprise is leaving Earth orbit and heading towards the sun. We see the Earth diminish and the moon appear looking exactly as it does from Earth. From this angle we should be seeing the "dark side" of the moon, which looks completely different. (00:40:50)

Assignment: Earth - S2-E26

Continuity mistake: Isis is an all-black cat, but in a few shots, her "stunt double" with white paws can be spotted. The cat lying on the floor of the transporter room when Gary Seven beams aboard is a white-pawed double.

Charlie X - S1-E3

Other mistake: Spock and McCoy have a brief argument over whether Charlie could have survived on his own all those years. Because they're talking at the same time, Spock saying "Doctor" as McCoy says "Mr. Spock," the closed captioner apparently misunderstood McCoy's line. The caption has him calling Spock "Dr. Spock." (00:09:15)

Spock's Brain - S3-E1

Continuity mistake: After Spock's brain is taken McCoy says he has no idea how long the body can last on life support without the brain. Somehow in the following few moments McCoy has established that Mr Spock's Body will die in exactly 24 earth hours. No explanation is given as to how he came up with this figure.

The Naked Time - S1-E5

Character mistake: Lt. Joey said to Lt. Sulu "You don't outrank me and you don't have pointed ears" but Joey is a junior grade lieutenant so Sulu would outrank him.

Where No Man Has Gone Before - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: When Kirk is fighting Gary Mitchell, his tombstone reads James R. Kirk. Kirk's middle name is Tiberius. Mitchell is a friend of long standing and would not have got it wrong. (00:44:30)

Richard Welty

The Naked Time - S1-E5

Revealing mistake: As the bridge crew monitors Psi 2000 on the view screen, a glitch in the special effects matte makes the planet vanish briefly and then reappear - twice. (00:12:30)

Jean G

The Omega Glory - S2-E23

Continuity mistake: Kirk and McCoy are in the Exeter's engineering section when Kirk uses the intercom to ask if anyone is aboard. Several shots of the deserted ship follow as his voice echoes off the walls, including one of engineering - with Kirk and McCoy suddenly, mysteriously absent. (00:03:45)

Spock: Live long and prosper.

Trivia: Gene Roddenberry created the transporter as an easier (and cheaper) way of getting Enterprise crew members onto a planet's surface, rather than landing the ship on the planet.
