Star Trek: The Next Generation

The Royale - S2-E12

Factual error: 30 seconds in Geordi says: 'surface temperature -291 degrees Celsius'. (The scale only goes down to -273.15 which is absolute zero). (00:00:30)

Conspiracy - S1-E25

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of this episode, Riker orders Geordi (who was navigator at the time) to increase to Warp 6. In response, Geordi replies, "Aye sir, full impulse."

Unification (2) - S5-E8

Visible crew/equipment: When Picard, Spock, and Data have just escaped from Romulan Commander Sela, when they are walking out of the room look at the green glass ornament - you can see a reflection of a crew member. Corrected on Blu-ray. (00:41:10)

Realm of Fear - S6-E2

Revealing mistake: In the scene where Barclay reappears on the transporter with the crewmember, they both fall to the ground. The transporter chief had put up a forcefield around the transporter chamber, in case something goes wrong. However, when the crewmember falls to the ground, his foot goes right through where the forcefield is meant to be. It is still active, as only a few seconds later we see it being deactivated.

Too Short a Season - S1-E16

Other mistake: At the beginning of the episode, when Picard and Riker leave the bridge to head to the teleport deck to receive the admiral and his wife, as the lift door opens Patrick Stewart makes a face at the film crew off-screen as he walks off the bridge. (00:02:05)

Timescape - S6-E25

Revealing mistake: As Picard goes to check the fuel consumption logs his right hand is in a closed fist. When he sits at a console and uses his right hand it already has the long nails he will get in the next few minutes when he reaches for the rotten fruit. (00:11:00)

Remember Me - S4-E5

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene when Dr. Crusher is on the Bridge all alone, right before the "universe" collapses, you can see a cameraman on a boom in the black plastic next to the turbo-lift behind her.

The Best of Both Worlds (2) - S4-E1

Factual error: Shelby announces the Borg have entered Sector 001, and we get an exterior shot of the Borg ship flying past Saturn. The problem is that the Borg are approaching from the side of the planet illuminated by the sun, meaning they would actually be moving AWAY from Earth rather than toward it.

Yesterday's Enterprise - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: In the episode 'Yesterday's Enterprise' (season three, episode 15), watch the final scene with Geordi and Guinan in Ten-Forward. Although time and the universe has returned to normal, Geordi is still wearing the uniform from the alternate timeline (note the sleeve detail, and the extended neck piece).

The Game - S5-E6

Revealing mistake: In season 5, "The Game," the brainwashed crew members hold Wesley's eyes open to force him to see the mind-controlling game. Their intention is to prevent him from closing his eyes, which would protect him from the device. While they are doing this, he blinks.

Angel One - S1-E14

Visible crew/equipment: When Riker goes to meet Beata, they sit on the bed together drinking something. As Beata puts her glass down, a hand in the lower right-hand corner reaches for it and removes it for her.

Datalore - S1-E13

Character mistake: At the end of the episode, after Lore has been defeated, Picard asks Data if he is O.K. Data replies, "I'm fine." One of the plot points of this episode is that Data cannot use contractions.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: That characteristic was not added to the character until season two. In the first season, Data uses contractions on a number of occasions.

It's still a mistake, even if it wasn't part of season 1 scripting. Just because we only learn later that Data doesn't use contractions, doesn't make this mistake invalid. We learn Data was specifically constructed that way and hadn't been able to use contraction since being created, which means all of season 1 he shouldn't be using contractions.

Bishop73

It would only be a mistake if he used the contraction after the trait was established for the character.

That's not how mistakes on this site work. It is still a valid mistake in the context of the entire show since the character trait had in fact been established. It's the same way for when shows do something like establish a character's birth-date in later seasons, but when episodes from earlier season have the character at the wrong age, it's a mistake for the earlier episodes.

Angel One - S1-E14

Plot hole: Data calculates the time to reach The Neutral Zone in time by assuming maximum warp speed. After the solution, in the last minutes, Picard orders only warp six. With this speed, they won't get there in time. Aren't they in a hurry anymore ? (00:35:30 - 00:42:20)

Where No One Has Gone Before - S1-E6

Visible crew/equipment: Near the start, just as Riker says "You have all the time you need.", the engine consultant stops and turns around. As he does so, look above his head and you can see a microphone hanging down. The camera quickly adjusts so it's not visible any more. [Not visible in the remastered Blu-ray version]. (00:06:00)

When The Bough Breaks - S1-E17

Visible crew/equipment: After finishing his talk with Harry, Riker continues to walk into the Turbolift. A leg from a light stand can be seen in the lower right hand corner as Riker walks into the lift. [Not visible in the remastered Blu-ray version]. (00:00:45)

Qpid - S4-E20

Worf: Captain, I must protest. I am not a merry man.

Skin of Evil - S1-E23

Question: Near the end when they are in the holodeck for the memorial ceremony for Lt. Yar, Dr. Crusher's uniform is green and seconds later it is blue. After watching it several times, it does not appear to be a trick of the light. What happened here? Why would she have on a green uniform in the first place?

con8iv

Chosen answer: The uniform does indeed change colour. It may be due to the need for a green screen in part, or perhaps some lighting altering our perception. That being said, it certainly looks green at the start, blue thereafter.

The show has been done in HD now and not sure if they fix this problem.
