Men in Black II (2002)

Corrected entry: When K and J are in Times Square after being flushed, they are covered with droplets of clear water. However the water on the walls of the cylinders as well as what they were in was blue. (00:35:35)

jerimiah

Correction: There's no mistake, they just appear clear, but it's all the same blue liquid. In fact, in one shot you see Jay spit out the blue liquid and even as the blue liquid is seen, some of the drops on his lips and chin appear clear.

Bishop73

Given the droplets were the same size on the walls of the pod as they were on J and K, they would not appear to be blue on one surface and clear on another. If the drops were larger in the pod vs on them, then I'd agree that the color could possibly be blue vs. Clear - but they weren't so they should be blue regardless of being on a person vs. Pod wall.

jerimiah

Correction: There's a lot more to just droplet size that affects what color you see. But the point being, he is seen spitting out blue liquid and that same liquid appears clear (as opposed to seeing him spit out blue liquid, have shot change, then another shot back to J where the liquid is now clear).

Tremors (1990)

Corrected entry: When the station wagon is found buried, not only is the radio on but the headlights are as well. Given the attack occurred at night and it is now mid-morning and the fact that the car can't run underground, even the best car batteries can't last more than an hour.

jerimiah

Correction: The best car batteries will last a lot more than an hour. I've left my lights on accidentally when I parked for work and found them still on 8 hours later. Car started up just fine too.

Phixius Premium member

In modern cars I would agree with you - but this car is almost 20 years old and the battery would not last more than an hour or so with both the radio and the headlights running.

jerimiah

Doesn't mean the battery is 20 years old.

The sound of the radio is not coming from the car. It's a small portable radio the Dr. Has in his car. You see it get turned on by accident when the Dr.'s wife kicks the radio during the attack.

BaconIsMyBFF

The car radio wasn't on. It was the transistor radio she knocked over in the back of the car when she climbed through.

Correction: It wasn't the car radio, it was a portable radio.

Liar Liar (1997)

Corrected entry: In the state of California, all parties are required for consent to be recorded, much less be used in a court of law as evidence as one's infidelity in the tape recording we hear.

jerimiah

Correction: True, but irrelevant as the gentleman himself confesses to the adultery while on the stand. It's not illegal to present the recording, it just can't be taken into consideration by the court as evidence.

Phixius Premium member

What would be the point to presenting evidence that can't be considered as evidence?

Dante's Peak (1997)

Corrected entry: When the pickup truck crosses the lava, the engine would have overheated and stranded them on the lava given the amount of heat going directly up into the engine compartment.

jerimiah

Correction: Actually, lava in movies is typically over-rated. Though the tires definitely would have been goo after one spin in that lava, the surface of the lava would be much cooler. You may actually be able to walk barefoot over it, it wouldn't be too much different from hot coals except for the much hotter liquid beneath. They spent 1 minute and 20 seconds on the lava surface, which would not have been enough to overheat the engine.

The tires being on fire would have increased the temperature under the hood even if the lava itself didn't being that the wheel wells would have also been capturing the heat within them.

jerimiah

Correction: Also, since the rear axle broke through the surface crust, the truck would become a rocket, due to the intense heat causing the gas fumes to ignite.

Superman (1978)

Correction: Lex is remote operating the car and probably rigged it with an explosive charge that he set off to make it crash.

Vader47000

Presumptions of what might have been done do not negate a mistake for how a special effect is made, especially since we do not know this is part of the plot to purposefully flip the car.

Dante's Peak (1997)

Other mistake: At the end when they are rescuing Harry from the mine, we see a helicopter land and kick up tons of volcanic ash. Given the destructive nature of ash to the engine (as seen in the earlier scene), it would not make any sense to have a helicopter operate anywhere near the area.

jerimiah

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The previous helicopter crashed because of the heavy ash in the air overwhelmed the engine. The later helicopter would presumably be equipped with an appropriate filter to protect the engine. Properly equipped, there's no reason a helicopter wouldn't be used as emergency transport, considering the likely state of the roads. While ash on the ground might moderately increase risk, helicopters are used routinely to fight forest fires.

Volcanic ash is extremely abrasive and corrosive containing parts of glass, dust and debris that will not only cause problems to the engine but will also damage the leading edge of the rotors, altering their aerodynamic abilities.

Little Fockers (2010)

Correction: Jack mentions in the movie that his son was definitely not up to the task of being able to take over as the family patriarch, leaving Greg to be the only remaining choice.

The Hangover (2009)

Corrected entry: Phil, Alan, and Stu realize they took Doug on his mattress up to the roof as a joke after the wild night of partying. But when the guys view the pictures on the camera after the wedding, a picture is shown showing Doug on his mattress BEFORE they went to Mike Tyson's place with Doug following along.

jbrbbt

Correction: Stu only mentions that they might have carried Doug up on his mattress to the roof. Given they didn't remember anything from the night before and the number of events that occurred, there's no reason why they might not have had the mattress up there already and carried just him up later on, resulting in the other photos being taken "out of order".

Shallow Hal (2001)

Corrected entry: In the restaurant scene, just before Hal is "mentally rescued" or returned to his normal way of viewing women by his friend, the booth Rosemary is sitting in breaks. As she is on her back, Hal and another restaurant patron run to her rescue. At this time, Hal is still seeing Rosemary as her pretty Gwyneth self. Hal and the restaurant patron pick up Rosemary with no problem whatsoever. They pick her up as they would someone as skinny as Gwyneth Paltrow. Because of Rosemary's great weight, they should have had great difficulty in picking her up from the broken booth.

Correction: As mentioned by Tony Robbins when Mauricio asked about Hal not feeling Rosemary as being big, the same can be said by the "Hal cam" that we see. While she may have been alot more difficult for them to pick her up off the floor, Hal's perception is that she was easy and thin to pick up and that's what we see as well.

Corrected entry: When Clark Griswold is on a ladder putting Christmas lights up on his house the trees in the background are green and leafy, (not evergreen trees), indicating summertime, although there is snow on the ground and it is supposedly winter. (00:21:38)

Correction: As Clark climbs the ladder, all of the tall trees behind the house have no leaves and are even covered with snow. The bush that does have leaves next to the evergreen, beside being the only thing with leaves, could easily be any number of plants that retain their leaves throughout the winter.

jerimiah

Corrected entry: In the opening scene where Clark and the two guys in the pickup are racing, Clark pulls under a 18-wheeler. In the close up shots, you can see the truck's tyres from under the truck, but in the far away shots, you can see the safety bars that were put under the truck for the stunt driver so he wouldn't ride up under the truck.

Correction: There are no bars or any other special enhancements that were done to the truck for this stunt. The only visible bars in the close up and far away shots are the ones that hold the mudflaps in the front and the same bar across the back wheels that's seen in all of the shots.

Date Night (2010)

Corrected entry: When 'The Fosters' crash the Audi into the front of the taxi, the air bags deploy. Only a cut away and cut back to them reveals the air bags have disappeared without any explanation.

Correction: The overhead shot of the 2 vehicles after the crash show Claire's airbag falling down by her legs out of sight. Any subsequent shots of Phil from the inside the car from a side view show the steering wheel with a partially deployed airbag in the center that's not visible from any front views.

Date Night (2010)

Corrected entry: In the beginning of Date Night, the family is at home in suburban New Jersey. A television is on, showing the all news channel, NY1. Problem is, NY1 is a time warner cable channel only available to New York City subscribers.

Correction: This is not true as NY1 is available to Time Warner customers in NJ that are located in Bergen and Hudson county.

The Money Pit (1986)

Corrected entry: When Anna and Walter are cleaning the new house, Anna pulls up the dumb-waiter, a raccoon screams and jumps up on her. If you look closely you will see a hand put the raccoon on her, at the bottom corner of the screen.

Correction: The hand is not visible in the DVD release of the film.

The Money Pit (1986)

Corrected entry: There is a scene where Walter and Anna are pouring water into the bathtub using buckets. When they are pouring the last two bucket loads in the tub it falls through the second floor and shatters on the first floor. However, when it shatters, no water is seen even after being filled with many bucket loads.

Correction: In watching the DVD release of the film, there is water in the tub as it crashes onto the floor.

Baby Mama (2008)

Corrected entry: When Kate is in the hospital bed, before the doctor leaves, you can see a crew member on the light switch.

dell

Correction: The only discernible reflection in the light switch is the doctor passing it as he leaves the room.
