Men in Black (1997)

Question: How does K holding the galaxy and calling Zed to let the Arquillians know they have it prevent them from destroying Earth?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: The Arquillians are prepared to destroy Earth so that the Bug doesn't escape with the galaxy. MiB having it isn't a concern.

LorgSkyegon

Answer: Presumably the Arquillians consider the galaxy to be in safe hands at this point and agree to hold off their attack provided the Men in Black deliver the galaxy to them.

Men in Black II (2002)

Question: After J blows up Serleena while holding K hostage, how did she manage to survive and shapeshift into a lingerie model again?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: As they show in the film, a small part of her survived, and was able to regenerate.

Men in Black II (2002)

Question: I don't understand the timing in the third act. When the launch pad says "four minutes to launch" in the scene with Jarra, J comes to Laura's rescue in what feels like longer than four minutes. Also, even though J and K bring Laura to her ship so she can leave, how much time was there left before Earth and Zartha would've been destroyed?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: The fight lasted for about 3 minutes, of course there are cuts towards the worms so the fighting isn't fully shown on camera, but since the countdown did say 4 minutes when the fight starts, that's how long it took. As for how much time was left for Laura to enter the pod; The pod came down and would lift up again with or without a cargo, so when the pod went up the time was up.

Super 8 (2011)

Question: Alice wants to see her father die for all he did to her. How come Joe doesn't want the same for his father for all he did to him?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Because they're two different people who have different emotions, different experiences, and would not react exactly the same way about their fathers.

Super 8 (2011)

Question: Why would Joe and his father hug each other in the end? Mr. Lamb treated his son like dirt and yelled at him for being around Alice, bring Joe to tears. The ending felt like an unearned father-son moment as well as an unearned father-daughter moment for Alice and her father.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: The ending was rather weak and contrived in that it too quickly resolved the parent/child conflicts. The story's intent is to show that despite both fathers' faults and the conflicts they had with their children, that the dads do love their kids. The adversity brings everyone together, and the kids are able to forgive their dads and would not have wanted to lose them. Hopefully all will have more positive relationships in the future.

Venom (2018)

Question: Dora Skirth briefly mentioned to Eddie Brock and Carlton Drake about her family. Did she have a husband and/or children? Was she worried about what The Life Foundation would do to them? If she had a family, did they get compensated for being killed by Drake?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: She told Eddie that she couldn't go to the police out of fear for her family, and Drake had kind of ominously mentioned her children when she said they weren't ready for human subjects. If it could be proved that Drake murdered her, they might have grounds for a lawsuit, especially if they could prove he was acting on behalf of the Life Foundation.

Question: Why did Meg's mother want her to write an apology letter to Veronica after she left a mean note on her locker and call Charles Wallace crazy? It sounds like she's teaching her daughter that sticking up for herself and her family is wrong.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Meg's mother is actually teaching her to show compassion and to understand that there is reason behind Veronica's bullying. She suffers from extreme low self-esteem, and has developed an eating disorder as a result. She bullies others to validate herself. Just because Veronica is a bully is no excuse for Meg to retaliate in the way she did.

Question: Why would Wade be upset at Sorrento for killing his aunt when she and Rick abused him?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Just because they were lousy at parenting and treated him badly doesn't mean you want them dead or aren't upset they are murdered.

Super 8 (2011)

Question: Why does Alice suddenly like Joe after tearing him apart for being "the deputy's kid"?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Their initial dislike stemmed from their fathers' mutual animosity over the fatal accident that killed Joe's mother. Alice may have come to understand and accept why Joe blamed her father, who was indirectly responsible for his mother's death. This eventually allowed them to grow close.

Question: Ann was mentioning to Eddie about suing. Who was she or Eddie planning to sue?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Carlton Drake's The Life Foundation was being sued for unethical testing on human subjects. Ann Weying was one of the foundation's defense lawyers. Ann's fiance, Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist, happened to see some of her documents related to the case.

Question: If the Mayor's death is only in the extended edition, then why was there no mention of it in the theatrical edition? Also, why wouldn't the town stand up to Berringer for killing their Mayor?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Question: Hansel said in the end that Augsburg knows who they are now. Does that mean they know that murdering his and Gretel's parents was wrong?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Question: Does Violet stay blue and Mike remain incredibly thin and tall after they leave the factory?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: There is a scene at the end of the film showing the children leaving the factory. It shows the changes ARE permanent. Mike stays stretched and Violet stays blue. She is also impossibly flexible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBOvtKI73yc.

Jason Hoffman

Answer: In the book, it's implied that they did.

Question: What does Fridge do now if he's still kicked off the football team by the end of the movie? It seems that only Spencer, Bethany, and Martha had some character growth, but not Fridge.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Fridge absolutely had character growth. He learned to value others as actual friends instead of using people to make his life easier. He learned to have respect for less popular students. He learned that physical strength can't solve all your problems. He learned the true value of teamwork. He never would have learned any of these lessons had he not played Jumanji.

BaconIsMyBFF

Question: After finishing the game, did Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Martha still have detention or did changing the timeline prevent them from their punishment?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: They still had detention. The only thing that changed was Alex. But since they had become such close friends, detention would hardly be a punishment for them anymore.

BaconIsMyBFF

It just seemed like they just simply walked out of detention. I mean did they finish their detention or did they had to continue on a Saturday?

The movie doesn't explain. But regardless, it also really doesn't matter.

TedStixon

Question: Do both Meg and Charles Wallace go to the same school? I'm asking because I thought Meg is 13 and in middle school while Charles Wallace is 6 and they both get sent to Principal Jenkins' office.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Some schools can go go from kindergarten all the way up to grade nine my school was that way.

Venom (2018)

Question: I kinda don't understand the ending. Does Anne no longer blame Eddie for losing her job and ending their relationship? Did both Eddie and Anne get their jobs back or do they move on? What has become of The Life Foundation? Has founder Carlton Drake been exposed for the evil person he is for killing homeless people and Dora Skirth?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Since Eddie is seen talking with Ann, she seems to have forgiven him. Ann decides to become a public defender and Eddie was given his old job back but, he chose not to take it. Instead, he decides to go back to journalism. As for the Life Foundation, it's only speculation but, with the photos that Eddie took, it's possible that it shut down and Drake's plans and the people he murdered were exposed to the public.

The Equalizer 2 (2018)

Question: What happened to Dave York's wife and daughters after his death? Do they ever find out about his evil motives?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: It is never mentioned, but it stands to reason that eventually they did find out. York's crimes most certainly would have been made public, he is solely responsible for several murders including the murder of a police officer at the beach. There would be very little reason for the government to cover up his crimes since he was acting as a rogue agent.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Question: Why is Peter still bullied by people in school even though he is in college? I'm referring to the scene where people hit him with backpacks and call him names as well as the scene in "Spider-Man 3" where he is bullied in Dr. Connors' class.

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: Other students see him as a nerd and a teacher's pet.
