Factual error: When Reba is in the darkroom with Dollarhyde she mentions that he speaks very well but avoids fricatives and sibilants. In linguistics sibilants are a form of fricative and Reba would have known that since she'd obviously studied linguistics. The writers likely meant that he just avoids sibilants (to avoid sounding homosexual) but wanted it to sound more technical. Sibilants in English are the 's' in "see", 'sh' in "shout", 'z' in "zoo", and the 's' in "pleasure". Fricatives would include sibilants as well as the 'f' in "fine", 'v' in "vine", 'th' in "that", and 'th' in "thing" (01:17:30)

Revealing mistake: In the scene where John first discovers the patterns of numbers, he writes all of the numbers on his whiteboard. He circles the numbers he finds online with a colored marker. When he circles the number 2708 with the blue marker, he passes over the 8 with the marker, but the original black 8 and part of the 0 appears on top of the blue, showing that it was done using some overlay technique. This same effect is shown several times including when the blue and red pens mix but are still behind the black. (00:24:55)

Revealing mistake: While breaking into the vault Gabe and Ripley use two ratchets to pull the large block that they cut out of the wall. The block moves as they pull the ratchet arm back. The block however moves only at the end of the pull for the second pull which makes no sense. This was an obvious timing error from whatever was really doing the pulling. The ratchet itself would've only pulled the block an inch at best. Additionally, when the block is almost out it shifts unnaturally showing that it was not made out of concrete. (00:56:45)

Plot hole: While breaking into the vault, Gabe and Ripley use a reciprocating saw to cut a block from the concrete wall. The block is several feet thick, quite beyond the reach of a saw of the sort. The view after the block is cut also shows no holes where they would have had to drill to get the cut started. (00:56:00)

Revealing mistake: After the first "day date", Chris gets into the Porsche and spazzes out while Jamie watches. She can't hear him because the windows are up, but as the camera moves into frame and into the car you can tell that the passenger-side window is down, presumably to allow for sound and camera entry.

Visible crew/equipment: In the car chase scene on Vilena, there is a point where Sandra's truck is headed from screen left to right, partially towards the camera. The windshield reflects the overcast sky interrupted by the reflection of a boom crane. (00:39:35)

Continuity mistake: Carrie's skateboard is broken in half after she sneaks off with Flicka to ride it in the city. Later, when she's sitting on the couch depressed about Flicka being gone, the skateboard is in perfect condition. Adding to this is when she gets a new board near the end of the movie. Plot hole: Near the end of the film, Carrie gets a quarter pipe. The problem is that there is no pavement anywhere near the farm which was expressed explicitly earlier in the film. Because of this, she won't be able to use the quarter pipe anyway, especially since it is about 2 ft at the base so they would definitely need to build the rest of the ramp. (01:14:00)

Audio problem: Drake places the tea kettle on the stove having just finished pouring the water into his cup. The kettle whistle dies down as he places it on the unheated burner. The problem is that the whistling would've stopped soon after lifting the kettle from the hot burner, and certainly wouldn't have gone on while he was pouring. (00:57:10)

Question: Hammond gets Grant and Satler to go to Jurassic Park by saying he will fully fund their dig for 3 years. Since Grant says he isn't going to endorse the park, does he still get the grant money? In other words, was the grant dependent on Grant and Satler visiting the park, or on their endorsement?

Deliberate mistake: During the car chase in the Cadillac, the van being chased crashes through a concrete block wall. Even if you can look past the unlikelihood that the van would even be drivable after going through, it is impossible that it would come through without any damage. Surely the windshield would be cracked, the headlights broken, etc. This was obviously not done with a real brick wall and they didn't think to damage the van before running it through the wall. They do show a dent and a messed up grill in a closeup later, but the damage doesn't match the wall scene. (01:02:10)

Plot hole: In the large chase scene, Frank hits the shoulder at 140kph (~85mph) but the car doesn't shake, slide, or act in any way like it should. Later, when he's moving around 220kph (~135mph), he somehow manages to end up on two wheels. To top it all of when he ends up between the semis he appears to be moving just barely faster than them which would mean he had to slow down somewhere. When his wheels make contact with the one semi the car doesn't jump or skip as expected because it's not moving very fast compared to the semi. I know this scene is for effect, but they could at least attempt to make it somewhat based on real physics.

Plot hole: Just before playing the water glasses, Gracie plays a couple notes, one of which is very high. She drinks some water out of the glass to lower the pitch. The problem is that the pitch goes up when you remove water from the glass, not down. Drinking out of the glass would've made the note sound higher. Some people and websites will make you believe that the pitch is going down due to an increase in the size of the resonant chamber but singing glasses have nothing to do with cavity resonance. Glass singing is caused by the molecules in the glass vibrating in resonance with each other. More water dampens the motion, slowing it down and lowering the pitch. Some of the confusion comes from schools not teaching children that liquids and gasses are both fluids. In the case of water in glasses, the water is not changing the cavity as much as one thinks, just damping it. And finally, if you don't believe me, don't Google it, try it.

Character mistake: At the very beginning, when Haley is in court, the cop says that the property damage from the previous scene looks to be about $14,000. Although we can't expect a cop to know the true cost of the property, the only things damaged were the large window and maybe the metal framework supporting it. The window couldn't be any more than $1000.

Factual error: When Novalee is locked inside Wal-mart during a storm she looks out the front. Water is streaming down the front doors. The problem with this is that the doors of the Wal-mart are very far under an awning and would never see that sort of rain. The awning is shown a minute or so before and is a standard Wal-mart feature. (00:16:45)
