Time Tunnel (1966)

Revenge of the Gods - S1-E7

Factual error: This is one of two episodes in the series where a WW2-era German MP38/40 submachine gun was used by American forces (Master Sergeant Jiggs, in this episode) rather than an American weapon such as a Thompson submachine gun.

Time Tunnel (1966)

Revenge of the Gods - S1-E7

Factual error: The battle scenes show the Greek and Trojan cavalry troopers equipped with stirrups on their saddles. The stirrup would not be used until nearly 1,400 years later.

Merlin the Magician - S1-E27

Factual error: The Vikings in this episode are fighting while wearing horned helmets. Contrary to popular belief, Vikings never wore horned helmets in battle. Some theories state the horned helmets were worn during special ceremonies, but never in battle or daily life.

Common mistakes

Factual error: Trains that do not stop, but crash through objects on railroad tracks. Train engineers will hit the brakes of the train when they see anything or anyone on the tracks, and if they come in contact with said objects, will stop to investigate what they hit, and cooperate with local and Federal authorities. Two examples are "Back To the Future, Part III" and "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry."

Time Tunnel (1966)

Chase Through Time - S1-E24

Factual error: Raul Nimon uses a silencer-equipped revolver during his attack in the tunnel control room. In reality, a silencer on a revolver is useless, as the exploding gases from the bullet discharge (the gun blast) would exit from the space between the cylinder and gun barrel.

Time Tunnel (1966)

Idol of Death - S1-E21

Factual error: One of the Spanish soldiers lights a torch with what appears to be a hand-held lighter. Early lighters were converted flintlock pistols (not yet invented during the time of this episode) and the earliest hand-held lighter would not be invented until three hundred years after this episode's timeline.

Visitors From Beyond the Stars - S1-E18

Factual error: Modern power cables are seen near Crawford's homestead, complete with aircraft warning flags draped over them. These cannot be mistaken for 19th century telegraph wires.

Factual error: Major Hoffman asks the brainwashed Doug what unit he is with. Doug answers, "74th Panzer Division." Neither the German Army nor the SS had a 74th Panzer Division.

Time Tunnel (1966)

Invasion - S1-E15

Factual error: The Gestapo major's office has a picture of Rudolf Hess hanging on the wall. Not likely, as Hess parachuted into Scotland in 1941 and was considered a traitor to the Third Reich.

Reign of Terror - S1-E10

Factual error: While firing their muskets at the guards as they rescue the Dauphin, Tony and Doug each quickly discharge their weapons twice without reloading. Muskets are one-shot weapons that required immediate reloading after firing.

Common mistakes

Factual error: Military characters who deliver incorrect or inaccurate salutes to each other. Real military personnel know how to deliver a proper salute.

Scott215

Factual error: In one scene of the Omaha beach landing, an American soldier is wearing eyeglasses with heavy black frames, which were issued to U.S. troops during the 1950's and 1960's. Eyeglasses issued to U.S. military personnel in World War 2 had thin metallic silver frames.

A Wall Street Thanksgiving - S5-E7

Factual error: Adam is excited the new Atari video game of "E.T.: The Extraterrestrial" was just released. In the same episode, Uncle Marvin is telling Barry he just saw the movie "Wall Street." Problem is, the "E.T." Video game was released in December, 1982, while "Wall Street" was released in December, 1987.

The Invaders (1967)

The Leeches - S1-E4

Factual error: When David Vincent lands at the airport, a sign there says, "Welcome to San Diego." When Vincent exits the airport, it says, "Maricopa Airport." There is a Maricopa in California, but the episode takes place in Arizona, as indicated by the license plates on the cars and mentioning the city of Tucson close to the town the episode takes place in.

Factual error: Modern electrical towers are seen on the hilltops in the background as Brisco County, Jr. chases after Falco's bandito.

Scott215

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The entire series was set in an alternate history of sorts, so most, if not all, historical "inaccuracies" cannot be regarded as mistakes.

The Goldbergs (2013)

The Day After the Day After - S4-E22

Factual error: This episode takes place around Mother's Day, which is in May, but everybody just saw the TV movie "The Day After", which aired November 20, 1983, six months after Mother's Day.
