Trivia: The extremis soldier that blows up at the theatre is named Jack Taggart, who in the comics was another armored villain, known as Firepower. (00:23:50)

Trivia: Stay till to the end of the credits once again for an extra scene. This time featuring an unexpected cameo and after that a tag line appears that says,"Tony Stark Will Return". (02:09:05 - 02:10:20)


Trivia: The mandarin has a version of Captain America's shield tattoo on the back of his neck, with an Anarchy symbol instead of the star.

Trivia: While Stark is watching Happy's hologram clue, there is an image of a dragon that's a reference to Fin Fang Foom, an alien dragon who appeared in strange tales #89 in 1961.


Trivia: Ellen Brandt in the comics is an agent of AIM, who was a lover of Ted Sallis. Dr. Sallis tried to make the super soldier serum and later became the Man-Thing.


Trivia: One of the guys who is watching Tony before the Mark 42 flies to him is the same actor that replaces Whiplash in the French jail in Iron Man 2.


Trivia: When Killian shows Pepper the universe by mistake, that footage is the same as seen in Captain America: The First Avenger.


Trivia: Professor Yensin appears in tales of suspense #39 in 1963, and helped Tony to make the first suit in Iron Man 1.


Trivia: Warren Ellis, the writer of the comic book series named Extremis, which this film takes cues from, is referenced by the President.


Trivia: Bruce Banner makes a cameo in a post credit scene.


Trivia: When Pepper get home for the first time and is looking at the letters/drawings from the kids, one is from "Mitch B." Mitch Bell is an associate producer of IM3.


Trivia: Slattery's speedboat, a gift from Killian, is named 'Cordelia', after the favourite daughter of King Lear. Killian told Stark that Slattery had played Lear in Croydon. (01:32:00)

Trivia: The dragon tattoo on Killian's chest is a reference to Fin Fang Foom, an alien dragon that appeared in astonishing tales #23 and #24 from 1974.


Trivia: The Sun Oracle server used by Tony is in the comics owned by Namor, another Avenger.


Continuity mistake: After Tony gets the armor back at the Mandarin's hideout and meets up with Rhodes, they go by boat to the harbor. On the way Tony calls the Vice President - during this scene the VP's phone changes, note the camera on the back of the phone is visible, but in another shot right after, it is a completely flat back panel.
