Corrected entry: Skeeter uses correction fluid when changing a word she has just typed. In 1963, a correction tape would have been used. Liquid paper wasn't invented until 1966.

Correction: A lady named Bette Nesmith Graham invented what we know as Liquid Paper in her Dallas Texas kitchen in 1956-1957. She called it Mistake Out and she based the original formula on tempera paint. My grandmother was part of a "Steno Pool" at the time and said she was able to buy a bottle for $0.20. The bottles were circular and had a brush (not a sponge like today) built into the lid, basically like nail polish bottles.

Corrected entry: After little Mae finally pees for Abilene, her mother impatiently snatches her off the potty. However, it is obvious her little ruffled panties were never pulled down. They were already up.

Correction: They were at her ankles.

Corrected entry: During the scene when Hilley is driving in a hurry out to Skeeter's house after the book is released, there is an aerial shot where we see her car careening around a corner. She nearly runs off the road and is fish tailing down the road. Ahead of her car, skid marks from a fish tailing vehicle can be seen. These are most likely from additional takes of the same scene.

Correction: This is conjecture and not really based on fact. How do we know it wasn't a different vehicle from carousing teenagers speeding around on a country road?

Continuity mistake: When Skeeter enters Brent's Drugs after the ladies' meeting, Elizabeth has on a pair of purple floral earrings. When she greets Skeeter with a "hey" there are no earrings. The shot then pans to Hilly motioning Elizabeth to move over and the earrings are back again.

Missus Walters: I sometimes may not remember my own name or what country I'm in, but there are two things I'll never forget: That my own daughter threw me in a nursing home, and that she ate Minny's shit. Goodnight.
