Trivia: The music being played at the bar that Graeme, Clive and Ruth go to is the same song being played in the Mos Eisley Cantina scene in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Trivia: The dog at the beginning of the film looks up. This is in reference to Pegg and Frost's characters arguing about whether dogs can look up or not in their film Shaun Of The Dead.

Trivia: During a flashback scene, Paul is shown sitting in Hangar 51 talking to Steven Spielberg, the same hangar as seen in Raiders of The Lost Ark and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Trivia: Stick around after the movie has finished, at least 4 minutes of extra footage is shown.

Trivia: John Carroll Lynch plays Kirsten Wiig's father in the film, even though in real life he's only 10 years her senior.

Trivia: The alien claps his hands and rubs them before doing his healing ability - this is in imitation of sensei Mr. Miyagi of The Karate Kid films and series.

Trivia: When Paul, Graeme and Clive are walking down the street in the town near the RV park, there is a theater behind them that is showing the movies "Easy Rider" and "Duel." Easy Rider is a movie where Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper play two guys on a road trip while fleeing the law, similar to the plot of this movie (although they have a drug stash, not an alien). Duel is a movie about a man who is chased down by a truck, and was the debut of Steven Spielberg, commonly referenced in this movie.

Trivia: Paul asks for some Reese's Pieces, which were used in E.T. to lead him out of the shed.

Trivia: Clive mentions to Paul he became interested in science fiction writing ever since he saw "Mac and Me." "Mac and Me" was a poorly received McDonalds ad placement 1988 E.T. ripoff film.

Trivia: Before Tara strikes "The big guy" (Sigourney Weaver) she says, "Get away from her, you bitch!" This is the same line said by Sigourney Weaver to the Alien Queen in "Aliens."

Trivia: The Black Vampire Sword that Clive covets throughout a good part of the film, only to gain a cheap imitation, is from Blade.

Trivia: A Wilhelm scream can be heard when one of the pursuing agent's cars goes over the bridge and crashes below.

Trivia: The shot of Graeme and Clive investigating the car crash with their lights on their heads is almost identical to some shots from Alien where the cast are investigating the alien planet.

Continuity mistake: When the bird first hits the RV, a blood stain is visible on the windshield. But on the exterior shot of the RV as it stops, the blood has disappeared. (00:26:50)

Graeme Willy: You are an alien!
Paul: To you I am, yes.
Graeme Willy: Are you gonna probe us?
Paul: *Why* does everyone always assume that? What am I doing? Am I harvesting farts? How much can I learn from an ass?

Question: Being unable to believe Paul's existence, Clive attacked Paul by gripping his throat in the RV. Then Paul said "That's my fucking jorph. Get your fucking fingers out of there! If I get a jorph infection, you're dead!" What exactly does jorph mean? Where does the word come from?

Answer: Since Paul is an alien, his race would probably give their body parts names that are in their own native language. To humans, we have throats. To Paul's race, jorph is their word for throat.

It cannot be a throat as it is an opening, it is more likely an opening that acts like a human ear.
