Armageddon

Question: Does anybody know who was originally asked for the soundtrack instead of Aerosmith?

Dragon

Chosen answer: Assuming you mean 'asked to record the song I Don't Want To Miss A Thing'? According to an article in this month's Empire magazine (June 2008) it was originally written with Celine Dion in mind.

Question: What did the Chinese guy mean when he did a thumbs up towards Harry on the oil rig?

Answer: Thumbs up in America means "good job" or "Yes. ok" something along those lines. The Chinese guy has no idea what Liv Tyler and Harry Stamper are talking about in English and just gives the "thumbs up" to him as a way of saying "good job on the oil rig, everything looks great!"

Question: The theme in the trailer is heard in other various trailers for example Men of Honor. What's the name of the theme?

Question: My friend said that some of the theme in the movie was not featured in the soundtrack especially the one where Harry blows up the bomb.Is this true and if it is ,then why?

Answer: There's only so much room on a CD. The soundtrack features the song tracks from the movie, and that only left room for one instrumental track.

There was also a score release for the film (without songs). Unsure whether the piece in question was included. It is typical for score releases to not include the entire film's score. As previously stated, CD space is limited in addition to commercial viability and composer/studio/ label interest. Score-centric labels sometimes release complete or extended scores. In the case of Armageddon, numerous bootlegs of the score have been available. Unsure whether Recording Sessions were leaked.

Question: For those who have the soundtrack, can you tell me the name of the theme when Harry sacrifices himself with the flashbacks of Grace?

Answer: It's called "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" By Aerosmith.

Factual error: The idea of two spacecraft blasting off together so close to each other at the same time is a joke. One would put the other at great risk. Not only is there massive fire and heat, but the vibrations from the noise of the exhaust do great damage to the surroundings. And there is great inconsistency about just how close the two spacecraft really are. The first still shot taken in the dark has them at different towers about 150 yards apart. But, then all the men take an elevator up ONE tower and are split apart into the two groups at the top of the tower. Furthermore, the launch takes place at Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39: the fixed and rotating service structures built for the Space Shuttle are visible. The pads at LC 39 are 8,700 feet apart (just over 1.5 miles). (01:00:00)
