The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Continuity mistake: When Sarah gets those cuts on her head, they seem to dissappear or get smaller in number as the movie progresses. (01:03:15 - 01:18:05)

Continuity mistake: When Sarah, Malcom and his daughter argue in the trailer for the first time you can see out of the back window. It shows they are right in front of a thicket of trees a few feet behind the trailer. When they step outside a minute later to see the InGen choppers arrive you see that the trailer is pulled up on the cliff tops already. The only view you should have seen out of that window was open sky as the window points out to sea. (00:32:10)

Continuity mistake: The cracks in the rear window of the lab truck when it's hanging over the side of the cliff seem to vary between the shots outside underneath vs shots inside as to where they are in the glass. There is a major one above (not underneath) Sarah's hand that's visible from inside and not from underneath.

Continuity mistake: Towards the beginning where the girl goes to photograph the Stegosaurus, the scene cuts back to her boyfriend and the guy with the video camera. In two cuts to their scene while the girl is photographing and interacting with Stegosaurus, the guy with the video camera opens the flip out LCD on the video camera and starts shooting the action. (00:24:50)

Continuity mistake: When the girl holds the sandwich, the napkin around it changes size and position between shots. (00:02:20)

Continuity mistake: When the movie starts and the little girl is surrounded by mini dinosaurs, her father lowers his Financial Times newspaper twice. First in the closeup he lowers it to his lap, and then at the start of the next wideshot the newspaper is back up in front of his face when he lowers it again before it drops onto the sand. Continuity mistake: When the crew are looking for Sarah, Eddie is holding the tracker and Ian is holding the rifle. In the next wide shot where they watch the Stegosaurus cross the river Eddie is now holding the rifle and Ian the tracker and the bag. The scene cuts again to the close up and Eddie is again holding the tracker. (00:22:00)

Continuity mistake: When Stark is separated from the group and is attacked by the tiny dinos, his last desperate attempt at escape shows him going down a small stream, then over a log, where he falls and is killed. In the next shot, we are looking at the same log from the other side and bloody water is moving down stream with Stark's body on the other side. He can't be on both sides of the log at the same time.

Continuity mistake: When the woman in the city is yelling and drives in reverse to avoid the dinosaur the streets are empty. A shot later they're filled with people and cars driving around.

Continuity mistake: When the dinosaur rampages through the city the inside of the bus is fully lit, but right before the dinosaur attacks the inside is dim and dark. When it drives through Blockbuster it's back to fully lit.

Continuity mistake: The dog walks 2 meters towards the edge of the pool, but when the shot changes and the dog returns to his kennel he's just half a meter away.

Continuity mistake: When the dinosaur is trying to get inside Malcolm's car by making a hole with his nose, the hole is smaller in the angle shot from behind.

Continuity mistake: When Stark falls on the water, before he is bitten by the mini dinosaurs his shirt is soaking wet. In the close-up it's dry.

Continuity mistake: When the T-Rex growls by the window, Harding turns around away from the window and yells. From the opposite angle she is facing the window and her mouth is slightly opened.

Continuity mistake: The tent scene in which Sarah and Kelly are sleeping, wrappers from cookies or food are in the first shot. When the angle changes the wrappers are gone, but Sarah hides the reappearance of the wrappers in the next shot. (01:18:50)

Continuity mistake: When we first see the remote for the cargo hold doors in the dead man's hand, the cord goes to the viewer's left and loops under itself. In the next shot the cord is going to the right and next to the ground so it can't loop under itself. In the next shot, the position changes again.

Continuity mistake: When Sarah screams in the camper when the T-Rex is by the window, she leans against the metal post with her back flat against it. We see a shot from outside and she's still screaming but doesn't move. The shot goes back to her in the camper and now her back is against the corner of the post.

Continuity mistake: When the girl meets the mini dinosaur she is standing on the sand, parallel to the edge of the grass. A frame later she's half a meter away, perpendicular to the grass. (00:02:50)

The Lost World: Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Dieter Stark is about to taze the dinosaur, the guy with the long beard approaches him, telling him what it is. As the bearded man says "They're presumed to be scavengers, like jackals", Stark's taser is closed mostly inwards. In the next shot, the taser is suddenly extended, opened out.

Casual Person

Character mistake: Sarah is a trained expert with predatory animals. But when her jacket is covered with blood (and not just any blood, the blood of the infant T-rex), and they're in a forest surrounded with carnivorous dinosaurs, and she knows that they need to pass through Velociraptor territory, and she thinks that the T-rex might follow them, she doesn't think to take the jacket off. And the others, who also happen to be hunters who would surely know that the blood would attract predators, don't say anything about it.

Suggested correction: While you are right, it's still not that much of a mistake because not only does it tie into the Butterfly Effect from the first movie, but also maybe Roland used it to his advantage, meaning an opportunity to shoot the Buck Rex since using its baby didn't work.

You're really grasping at straws on this one. The top priority for everyone at this point is to find safe shelter. A bunch of dinosaur experts aren't going to jeopardize that by allowing someone in their group to walk through dangerous territory with blood-soaked clothing, and Roland isn't going to risk the lives of other people to hunt the T-rex. This is just bad writing by the filmmakers, plain and simple.

He's talking about when Ian Malcolm was exposing chaos theory and used the term "butterfly effect." But like Phaneron said, the person was really grasping as straws and this scene has nothing to do with what Malcom was talking about.

Suggested correction: I don't think this is actually a mistake. Yes Sarah's jacket is covered in blood from the baby T-Rex, but as you say they've got to pass through Velociraptor territory. In JP3 it was noted that the T-Rex pee keeps smaller dinosaurs away but actually attracts the Spinosaurus. The scent of the T-Rex blood could actually also have the same effect as the pee at keeping the smaller dinosaurs away.

Trivia: The T-Rex gets off the ship in San Diego. But the street seen is San Fernando Road in Burbank, about 130 miles north of San Diego. Nothing obvious unless you know the area, but worth a look for locals.

Question: What happened to the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar? They wander around Isla Sorna on this movie, but no mention is made of the dinosaurs in the original. Does anybody know about their fate? Were they killed? Did they die naturally?

Answer: The dinosaurs on Isla Nublar are not mentioned. In the first book they are destroyed by bombing, which makes the second island more surprising - a lost world.
