Continuity mistake: Rachel throws a couple of suitcases and Jamie throws 2 more and a sleeping bag down the stairs. Next shot shows a chair and boxes that were never thrown. (01:08:10)

9. 1/10. Possibly one of the best sequels of the franchise. The atmosphere matches the original in being chilling as it seems like Myers has a ghostly presence on Haddonfield. If anything he can be there in spirit enough to frighten people. Danielle Harris plays Jamie Lloyd well here. She really seems to be the embodiment of frightened child being chased by the Boogeyman.
Best film of the franchise.

Answer: It's tricky to say, as the films have contradictory explanations, and there are different "timelines/universes" in the series. But in the context of this film, Michael is for some reason compelled to kill his family for reasons unknown. Presumably he's just finishing the job he started by killing his sister Judith decades earlier. (They try to give a more concrete explanation in the movie "The Curse of Michael Myers," but it's... flimsy at best. And is contradicted by the following film).
Answer: Because he's a psychopath. And purely and simply evil.
