Visible crew/equipment: When Honora brings Pauline a tray of breakfast into her room, Honora gives her the tray then talks to her for a while. You can clearly see the face of a crewmember reflected in a window, and then after, you see the reflection of two hands holding the long pole of the boom mic! (00:37:40)

Factual error: When Pauline makes her first entry into her 1953 diary, the date at the top of the page is January 1, Thursday. Later in the film when she begins her diary for 1954, the date on the page is January 1, Thursday. The same date in two consecutive years cannot be the same day of the week, they are a day apart (2 in a leap year). In actual fact, 1 January 1954 was a Friday. (00:24:20 - 01:03:45)

Visible crew/equipment: In art class, Miss Collins says "..and decide who wants to model and who want to draw." After saying this it cuts to a wide shot of the class, and in the windows (right side of the room) you can clearly see, reflected in the window, the whole long pole of the boom mic being slowly lowered. Continuity mistake: When Juliet drops the gem, Pauline then points it out and we see a shot of it. Then we see a second shot of it, as Honora picks it up. Between the two shots the position of leaves and twigs around the gem changes. (01:42:40)

Continuity mistake: In art class you see Mrs. Collins pick up some papers and a wooden tray, then turn and talk to Juliet. The wooden tray Mrs. Collins picks up has a circular carve in one end of it. In one shot she is holding the tray so the carving is facing her, then when the shot changes she is suddenly holding the tray the other way, so the carving is facing away from her. (00:08:55)

Factual error: In the scene, set in 1952, where Pauline and Juliet sit on a bench during P.E., they're reading 'Biggles of 266' (by Captain Johns). The book however, was published in 1956.

Pauline Parker: Oh, I wish James Mason would do a religious picture! He'd be perfect as Jesus.
Juliet Hulme: Daddy says the Bible's a load of bunkum.
Pauline Parker: But we're all going to heaven?
Juliet Hulme: I'M not! I'M going to The Fourth World... it's sort of like heaven. Only better, because there aren't any Christians.

Trivia: The director of the film, Peter Jackson, has a cameo in the film. He is the bum that Juliet grabs and kisses as the two girls run out of the theater.
