Continuity mistake: During the first fight scene between Phoenix and Spartan, Phoenix sticks his knife into several barrels of fuel and you see the fuel all over his knife but when he lays it on the table it's dry. (00:03:00)

Continuity mistake: When the Cryo-Prison worker opens the cabinet that holds the cylinders that contain the blue "freezing balls" to freeze Spartan's slush, the slot on the center left is empty. When the shot changes to the worker pulling the cylinder out, the slot to the lower left is now the empty one. (00:09:45)

Continuity mistake: When John Spartan is frozen in the cryochamber, at the beginning of the movie, if you watch during the credits - while the time is going by the small circular monitor that is on his chest and head, it changes from the left side to the right side of his chest and head in almost every shot. (00:10:10)

Continuity mistake: When Spartan is frozen, his mouth is open, but when you see him in the block of ice his mouth is closed. (00:10:15)

MCKD

Continuity mistake: When Spartan is initially frozen in the cyro-liquid, air bubbles and ripples are in the ice around his mouth. Any following shot of him in the ice block shows no bubbles or ripples. (00:10:15)

Factual error: The display on John Spartan's cryogenic reads, "August 3, 2032," which will fall on a Tuesday. Later that same day, Huxley says to Warden Smithers, "It's a beautiful Monday morning" (00:11:30 - 00:12:15)

Factual error: Simon Phoenix uses the warden's removed eye to escape from the cryoprison. The eye is on a pen, and since the retina includes the back portion of the eye, the pen's nib would have not only destroyed the shape of the retina, but blocked the scanner from reading the complete retina as well. There's no way the retinal scanner would have let him pass. (00:18:45)

Revealing mistake: Watch closely as Phoenix is about to fight the cops near the computer kiosk: the same two people wearing white robes pass behind the officer with the hand-held computer twice. (00:25:30)

Continuity mistake: When Phoenix first gets out he makes his way to a computer and the police come to arrest him. Phoenix takes one of the policeman and pushes his head through the side glass pane and walks away to fight the other officers, but when Phoenix goes back over to the computer the glass is not broken. (00:26:50 - 00:27:40)

MCKD

Continuity mistake: When Phoenix is fighting the police at the kiosk, he knocks the sunglasses off of one officer, but in the next shot the glasses are back when the cop is knocked out. (00:27:00)

Demolition Man mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Spartan switches seats with Huxley in the police car, the outside shot shows him get into the back seat. When the shot switches to Huxley in the driver's seat, we can see the back and Spartan isn't seen anywhere in the car. (00:42:40)

Continuity mistake: The guard Phoenix throws through the glass case has on footwear which resembles socks. As he is smashing through the glass, he has on heavier leather boots. (00:44:30)

Continuity mistake: When Phoenix blows up the door sealing the Armory, it is just about the size of a normal door, but when he runs through it to escape into the main hall, the door is four times larger. (00:47:40 - 00:48:40)

Suggested correction: Phoenix didn't exit through the door of the armory same as where he entered. As he says, "I've been dreaming about killing you for forty years", he shoots the large window that's to his right, near where the cannons are. This is where he exits, which is why it looks bigger.

Factual error: During the fight in the museum, Spartan gets three shots out of a shotgun which only holds two shells. (00:48:35)

Demolition Man mistake picture

Continuity mistake: During the glass floor shootout at the museum Spartan shoots a light that falls through the glass. Right after Spartan shoots the light it goes dark but the close up of the light falling and hitting the floor shows the light to be still lit. (00:49:05)

Visible crew/equipment: When Phoenix falls through the glass at the museum into the LA exhibit, you can see him sliding down a safety rope. His feet are even in the position to be sliding down the rope. (00:49:15)

Plot hole: When Spartan jumps through the window in the excavation scene of the museum, he crashes into a room with bottles of drink on the shelves. Surely this room too would have been filled in and the window smashed during the earthquake, and the museum wouldn't have bothered to excavate it as it can't be seen from above due to the blanked out window. So what is that room doing there? (00:49:20)

Continuity mistake: When Phoenix throws Spartan over the bonnet of the red car in the museum, Spartan lands in a puddle that soaks his hair. In the next few shots, the hair keeps changing from being soaked to being dry. (00:50:15)

Audio problem: In the European version, Taco Bell is replaced by Pizza Hut, however, when Huxley says to John Spartan that they're going to Pizza Hut, we see her lips say "Taco Bell." (00:57:00)

Revealing mistake: The cables Spartan slices in order to bring down the parasol, have quickreleases on them so that they snap in the right place. This is best visible with the second one. (01:01:50)

John Spartan: Brake! Brake! Brake now, you Mickey Mouse-piece of shit!

Trivia: The 'particle gun' that Phoenix picks up in the museum is actually a prototype of the real-life Heckler&Koch G11 rifle, the first gun ever to fire caseless ammunition. The gun and its ammo were developed in the Cold War to save the expenses for the cartridge case production. It was tested and modified for field use, but with the collapse of the Soviet state (which ended the Cold War) in 1991, the production program was cancelled. (00:45:30)

Question: Why was Simon allowed a damn at the joy joy feeling machine thingy while John was fined for one while talking to his friend?

Answer: I'm assuming you're referring to when Simon says "Damn, I'm possessed!" He was hacking the machine when he said it, perhaps he'd corrupted the program or shut off the microphone as a side effect?

Grumpy Scot

Answer: Note that when Spartan is fined for swearing, the machine uses his full name. When Phoenix is fined, the machine only refers to him as "You" ("You are fined 1 credit...") as he isn't recognised because he doesn't have a chip. Presumably he's expected to take the ticket and pay the fine even if the machine didn't automatically know it was him.

Also notable is that when Lenina swore she was fined only one half a credit instead of a full credit. Probably because she is a cop.

lionhead

No, I think she got fined only a half credit because it was a *sotto voce* violation (under her breath).

Strange, I can swear somebody already mentioned that once before.

lionhead

Answer: Phoenix has no sub-dermal microchip in his hand. Per Huxley, all transactions are done with this chip. That would mean fines are also generated per person based on this chip too.

Except when Simon is trying to get a gun, he keeps swearing at the booth which constantly fines him.
