Continuity mistake: In the scene where Sy is giving the toy to Jake after the soccer game near his car, he hands the toy to Jake and Jake says he can't accept it etc. Then we see Sy put the toy back in the Savmart bag, but when the shot changes the toy is still in his hands, not in the bag. Seymour 'Sy' Parrish (Williams) has been doing photo development for 20 years. He has a vast knowledge of modern photography and develops photos at a local department store for a living. But Sy lives a sad and lonely life and begins spying on the Yorkin family, his biggest customers who seem to have everything in the world. Sy begins to feel that he wants to be in the Yorkin's life, but when he discovers that the Yorkins are not as perfect as they seem, he becomes a man on a mission to expose the imperfections of the Yorkin family that could tear them apart.
Sy Parrish: Most people don't take snapshots of the little things. The used Band-Aid, the guy at the gas station, the wasp on the Jell-O. But these are the things that make up the true picture of our lives. People don't take pictures of these things.
Trivia: The names of the SavMart employees announced over the in-store P.A. are all the names of famous photographers.
Question: At the very end of the movie, when Sy's camera ends up having only photos of "the little things" as opposed to the pictures of the other characters pretending to have sex, I interpreted it as Sy not having actually TAKEN pictures of the couple, but really taking pictures of the room itself, on purpose - so that the pictures wouldn't get out, but instead he would just be giving them what he feels they deserved. However, on a couple other websites I have found the ending interpreted as Sy having hidden or disposed of the film that he took the lewd photographs with. Are either of these considered to be "correct"?
