The Searchers (1956)

Ending / spoiler

(1 vote)

Ethan and Martin find the Comanche tribe that killed Martin’s family. Debbie is alive and now the squaw of a ruthless Indian brave. Martin kills him. Ethan chases down Debbie with the intent of killing her, but realizing he loves his niece, scoops her up in his arms and brings her home.

Other mistake: There is a scene where a dead Indian warrior is discovered. In this scene he is covered by a large flat piece of stone. When they pull away the stone you can see his chest rising and falling as the "dead" Indian breathes. Much easier to see when viewed in HD.

Ethan: What you saw wasn't Lucy.
Brad: But it was, I tell you.
Ethan: What you saw was a buck wearin' Lucy's dress. I found Lucy back in the canyon. Wrapped her in my coat, buried her with my own hands. I thought it best to keep it from ya.
Brad: Did they...? Was she...?
Ethan: What do you want me to do? Draw you a picture? Spell it out? Don't ever ask me! Long as you live, don't ever ask me more.
