Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Trivia: When making this movie, Walt Disney turned the script into a comic at first and they used these "comic strips" to move around shots and scenes, replace things and generally see what would work or not. This technique is now known as storyboarding and pretty much every single movie production uses it.

Trivia: The queen's name is Grimhilde.

Trivia: In the Swedish dub (and possibly others too) the text appearing on screen is narrated by the Prince.

Trivia: 75 miles of paper was used in the animating of this film.

Trivia: Walt Disney used the profits from this movie to purchase land in Burbank, California, the future home of Disney Animation Studios. If you ever get to visit, you will see the studios are themed for the 7 Dwarfs.


Trivia: When watching the DVD set to French for spoken language, the names on the dwarves' beds, which are written in French when Snow White initially sees them, are in English for the rest of the movie. Also, her coffin has "Snow White" written in English on it.

Trivia: After Snow White has finished scrubbing the castle's steps, you can see there is a "Hidden Mickey" in the water.

Trivia: This was the first full-length animated film released by Walt Disney studios.

Trivia: The Queen never has any screen time with Snow White. It is only when she is disguised as the Witch that the two are seen to interact.

Trivia: Of all the film's human characters, the Prince is the only one who is never named.

Trivia: Excluding Dopey, none of the other dwarfs refer to each other by name.

Trivia: Comedian Billy Gilbert was cast in this film after he heard that one of the dwarfs' names was going to be Sneezy and he called up Walt Disney. Gilbert then gave Disney his famous sneezing gag and was given the part.

Continuity mistake: When the seven dwarves run scared down the stairs and out of the door, Dopey pulls the handle of the door from the inside until it breaks out and falls away. The next scene when the dwarf opens the door, the handle is there again. (00:33:00)

Question: When the animals go to tell the dwarves about the witch trying to kill Snow White, why is Grumpy all of a sudden concerned about her? He's the first one to say that they have to go rescue her and then is leading them back to the cottage, although up to that point he hasn't liked her at all.

Answer: He's oppositional, sure, but that's just who he is. It doesn't mean he doesn't like her.
