Trivia: Several times through the film Skull Island is mentioned in a nod to King Kong.

Trivia: The Orca ultrasonic system used to call the monsters is similar to the one used in the Godzilla cartoon series from 1978.

Trivia: There is a post credit scene that shows Alan Jonah at Mara island talking to one of the heads of King Ghidorah.

Trivia: When King Ghidorah first appears, one of the soldiers says, "You gotta be f***ing kidding." This same line is said by Palmer as he saw the Norris spider-head thing skittering on the floor in John Carpenter's The Thing (1982).

Trivia: In the credits there is a rock painting with King Kong fighting Godzilla.

Other mistake: When Godzilla emerges from the sea towards the end of the movie, what is he standing on? You can see the submarine at the side of him so the water must be reasonably deep. Then he just swims away. (01:37:15)
