Other mistake: When Barton returns to his room to find one of the detectives reading out his film script, it ends with "We'll be hearing from that crazy wrestler, and I don't mean a postcard. Fade out. The end." When we earlier saw Barton typing the end of this script, enough was visible to show that the last line of dialogue was "We'll hear from that kid, and I don't mean a postcard", and there was no "Fade out".
Barton Fink's screenplay gets thrown out by Lipnick, but he keeps him under contract to teach him a lesson. Mundt is the devil, and the hotel is hell. He's a mass murderer, and gives Barton a head in a box. It ends with Barton at the sea and looking at a woman, who's actually the woman from the picture.
Ben Geisler: What Ted Oakam doesn't know you could almost squeeze into the Hollywood Bowl.
