Fantastic Four mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Sue's hairstyle, as well as the texture and length of her hair, and the color, changes from scene to scene, and even at times from shot to shot. This was due to movie re-shoots.

Plot hole: Dr Doom has amazing powers, able to crush people or pop their heads in an instant, which he does to all the humans but not to his biggest threat, the Fantastic 4.

Other mistake: If you look closely after the film leaps ahead a year, Reed's file on Ben lists his birthdate as 1986, but the prologue of the film which features Ben and Reed at roughly 10 years old each is set in 2007. The math doesn't add up.

Continuity mistake: When Franklin sees Johnny on fire for very first time, he is lying on a pad, but in the next shots the pad is gone.

Continuity mistake: Young Reed has blue/green eyes but older Reed has light brown eyes. Eyes never change color with age.

Dr. Franklin Storm: Victor, stop! We are not gods, just people. And we are stronger together than we are apart.

Trivia: The film had a notorious production, with many rumors swirling throughout. Amongst the (alleged) things to occur during filming were: a last-minute budget cut that meant most of the major action-scenes had to be removed and the film had to be restructured; director Josh Trank becoming so disillusioned with filming that he showed up on set noticeably drunk on several occasions; and massive reshoots having to be done to rework the entire film after disastrous feedback from producers and executives.

Question: I suppose this is more a request for an educated guess than anything. Why can't anyone seem to produce a working Fantastic 4 movie franchise? The first two movies and the first reboot were awful, simply put, and the poor box office returns made future sequels or reboots even less likely. Why can no one seem to get a grip on what makes Fantastic 4 tick?

Charles Austin Miller

Chosen answer: In a nutshell, 20th Century Fox and the people that worked on the respective films simply don't understand the comics and why fans like the source material. It's also worth noting that the 2015 film was made so that Fox could retain the rights, as they would have gone back to Marvel had they not begun production on it by a certain date in 2014. They weren't exactly making the film with the intention of it being great, rather as a rights grab and a money grab, though the film ended up being a major box office flop, so the latter didn't exactly pan out in their favor. There are many fans that would like to see the rights to Fantastic 4 revert back to Marvel Studios, as they would more than likely do the films justice.
