The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Trivia: The lips in the opening song belong to Patricia Quinn, who plays Magenta. The person singing is Richard O'Brien.

Trivia: At one point on set, the cast had an off-camera Easter egg hunt. Some were never found - you can see at least three of the eggs in the film: one under Frank-N-Furter's throne, one in the main hall in place of the light, and another when they are going up to the lair in the elevator.

Trivia: Dr. Scott crashes through the wall of the lab because the filmmakers forgot to add a door to the room, so he had to crash through the wall in order to get in.

The Doctor

Trivia: When Magenta and Columbia are reclining on the long couch in their "bedroom" you can see the Rocky Horror album cover on the lamp.

Trivia: Charles Gray (The Narrator/Criminologist) filmed his scenes in one day, completely separate from the rest of the film. He never met the other cast members during the making of the film and never watched it in its entirety.

The Doctor

Trivia: Just after Brad and Janet arrive at the castle, when Riff Raff opens the casket-clock, the skeleton inside is actually real. It is the husband of the woman who had this 'special' clock commissioned. (00:19:30)

Trivia: This movie premiered in the US at the end of summer '75, following the blockbuster premiere of Jaws in June '75. When the studio created theatrical posters for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, one was a send-up with the caption, "A different set of jaws" under the big red lips.

Trivia: Meatloaf had a fear of riding a motorcycle during "Hot Patootie" so he not only had a stunt double, but during close-ups of him on the motorcycle he actually was on a wheelchair with the shield connected to it, creating the illusion of him on the motorcycle.

Trivia: A life-size bronze statue of Riff Raff dressed in the finale's space suit was erected in Hamilton, New Zealand in 2004, in a tribute to RHPS creator/writer Richard O'Brien. The following is inscribed on the plaque: "It's astounding! Where we stand is the birthplace of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. On this site stood the Embassy Theatre, the home of Hamilton's Late Night Double Feature show, and the barber shop where Richard O'Brien cut hair and daydreamed from 1959 to 1964." WETA Workshops, of Lord of the Rings fame, designed the statue.

Trivia: The newspaper that Janet holds over her head is the Cleveland Plain Dealer. (The masthead is briefly visible while they are still in the car.)

Trivia: In the scene at the dinner table, you can notice Janet's look of pain as Brad accidentally slams down on her hand.

Trivia: Meatloaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, ironically is a vegetarian.

Trivia: Several cast members from the original Rocky Horror Show stage play reprise their roles in the film. These include Tim Curry as Frank, Patricia Quinn as Magenta, Richard O'Brien as Riff-Raff and Little Nell as Columbia. Jonathan Adams who plays Dr. Scott in the film was the original Narrator in the London stage production while Meatloaf played both Eddie and Dr. Scott in the Los Angeles production.

Trivia: When the stunt double was riding on Eddie's motorcycle, he once swerved trying not to hit one of the "unconventional conventionists." In his effort not to hit anyone, he fell off one of the side ramps. When a crew member tried to catch him, the crew member broke his leg.

Trivia: The farmer and his wife in the wedding scene (played by Richard O'Brien and Patricia Quinn respectively) are a direct reference to the painting "American Gothic", which is seen later on in the film (next to the clock containing the skeleton).

Trivia: Rocky Horror was nearly Susan Sarandon's last movie. The actress caught pneumonia after filming the pool scene but continued working with a doctor's advice that if she must continue, she should try to stay warm. The crew set up a warming tent and put space heaters in her trailer. Both the tent and her trailer caught fire, luckily when the actress was not in them.

Trivia: During the scene where they were having meat for dinner, only Tim Curry and Richard O'Brien knew Eddie's (Meatloaf's) body was under the table and they were suppose to be eating him. None of the other actors knew this. Therefore when Dr. Frank-N-Furter lifts the tablecloth up exposing the body, the reaction of the other actors are genuine.

Trivia: The famous opening scene with the lips was inspired by a painting called "Lips Over Hollywood" by the artist Man Ray.

Factual error: The criminologist describes the events of the movie as taking place "on a late November evening". In the very next scene, Brad and Janet are driving in Brad's car, and President Richard Nixon's resignation speech is playing on the radio. Nixon resigned in August of 1974. (00:12:00)
