Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: The Movie picture

Question: At the end of season six, Grace told Robert E she was pregnant. Throughout this series finale, which is fast-forwarded three years, there is no such child. Do we assume she miscarried?

oprlvr33

Chosen answer: We could assume that, but more likely the writers decided that adding a baby to the show did not serve the plot that well.

Analyze This picture

Question: When Nicky Shivers is being held hostage, De Niro is about to belt him in the face with a metal pipe and make him fall into a hole. This most likely would have been fatal. But De Niro has a change of heart and walks away. Then Nicky sardonically comments "Well geez, that was pretty painless." Given that he was just spared from a painful ending, why would he make such a smart-alec comment?

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: That's how he dealt with facing certain death and then not being killed. Some would be silently grateful as you suggest, others wouldn't. Everyone reacts differently.

Bowfinger picture

Question: Was the freeway scene in Bowfinger done with CGI or stunt drivers?

Answer: It's done with CGI. Such freeway scenes are impossible to do with stunt drivers as you would need very complicated choreography to make it look believable.

Jawbreaker picture

Question: The song playing during the opening titles is "Volcano Girls" by Veruca Salt. The song seemed to "shape the film", but wasn't on the soundtrack. Why?

Answer: The band had recently broken up when Jawbreaker was released, so maybe that had something to do with it. Or maybe just a good old-fashioned disagreement about how much VS would be paid for using their song? I agree, the soundtrack seemed somehow empty without it.

Question: At the end of the film, Malthazar says "The ship was a model as big as this - a very clever deception indeed." Pushing Tin picture

Question: The title - what does it mean/refer to?

Answer: In the film, it's a phrase used to describe the job of an air traffic controller. They're responsible for maneuvering the airplanes around in the skies. "Tin" refers to the airplanes and they're moving, or "pushing", them around. I tried to find if this was a real reference or phrase used in air traffic controllers prior to 1999, or just made up for the movie. It seems it's a phrase made up for the movie (but I can't say for certain as I have no experience in that field).

She's All That picture

Question: There are two actress' I can't place and I am sure I have seen them somewhere before. I am not sure of their characters names but one of them i assume is Zach's sister, with the brown hair who goes to Ashley's as she has a cute brother and the other one is the blonde girl who was one of the girls who told Laney that it'd be better for her art if she committed suicide. Can anyone tell me their names and what else they have been in?

Answer: Zach's sister is Anna Paquin. She's been in tons of stuff like Almost Famous and she's the kid in The Piano, but she's mostly known as Rogue in the X-Men movies. The 'other one' is Clea DuVall who's been in 21 Grams and Girl, Interrupted. She was also the girl who disappears in a first season episode of Buffy. Stick the names into the IMDB to find out more.

End of Days picture

Question: Why does Satan go through the trouble of hiring protective detail at the beginning of the film? Bullets have no effect on him, and even if he was hit, he could just make the claim that the shooter missed. And it's not like he's overly worried about people discovering his true identity, since he blackmails and corrupts people throughout the movie.

Phaneron Premium member

Chosen answer: Satan had to protect the host's body from harm by the Catholic priests who might try to stop him with holy "weapons." At the end, when Jericho impales himself on Michael's sword, Satan is cast out of Jericho's body because of the holy power of the sword.

Message in a Bottle picture

Question: How did the bottle end up in lake Michigan if it was thrown in the Atlantic ocean?

Answer: None of the bottles ended up in Lake Michigan. Theresa is from Chicago, and when she and her son are at Boston Logan Airport she tells her ex-husband she'll be staying in Cape Cod for a few days, which is where she finds the bottle on the beach, along the Atlantic Coast. Then after the newspaper article, Theresa learns of another letter in a bottle, which Theresa notes as "bottle #2", and this bottle was found in Ocean City, Maryland, also along the Atlantic Coast. Catherine's letter in a bottle was found at Virginia's shoreline, so all of the bottles were found on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
