Plot hole: When Morgan and her Slave/New Boyfriend are escaping from the burning ship, which is going to explode any second, they emerge onto the deck, run up a flight of stairs, cross the deck to the stern rail, look about themselves, then dive overboard. They know the ship is about to explode and are desperate to get overboard. The railings are about a metre away from the hatch they emerge from in the first place - why not just jump overboard there?
Plot hole: When Bo-Tat is purchased the Village Elder insists that Lihn go with Bo-Tat, it is CLEARLY established at this time that A) Lihn is an orphan and B) his parents were both killed in the war. For two-thirds of the movie Capt. Doyle repeatedly comments that Lihn can't be trusted because we don't know who (NVA or USA) killed his parents. There is no possible way that Spc.5 Farley wouldn't know this. However, halfway through the movie (on the river boat) he asks Lihn where his parents are and how they died. He couldn't possibly be ignorant of this, since he took part in at least two of the prior conversations.
Plot hole: In Cuba, Bond and Natalia are in a plane flying over a lake, attempting to find the Goldeneye control station. The station is hidden, and the Janus Group inside obviously does not want the operation discovered until it's time to go with their plan. They are hidden so well, Bond and Natalia are about to give up. Yet, the enemy fires a rocket at the plane to shoot it down, and sends Xenia in pursuit to finish them off. This does not logically make sense, as the rocket would be a dead giveaway that the base is actually there and lets Bond know it. That, and the rocket would be seen by the US government, letting them know that Janus is there. So even if the rocket succeeds in killing Bond, it would give the US government a precise target and would undermine Janus' entire operation. The logical thing to have done would let Bond leave empty handed. (01:37:00)Quantom X
New this month Plot hole: When Injun Joe is about to kill Huck, Tom takes notice of the chest full of gold coins and then empties the chest out (offscreen) because it was too heavy for him to lift, and then tricks Injun Joe into trying to retrieve the empty chest, resulting in Injun Joe falling to his death. The amount of time that passes between Tom glancing at the chest and then tricking Injun Joe before he can kill Huck is roughly 5 seconds. There's no way Tom could have emptied out of the chest in that little amount of time if the chest was too heavy for him to lift in the first place, especially without making a sound.Phaneron
