Revealing mistake: When The Mask is dancing with Tina and he turns her into a human tornado while spinning her around, none of the onlookers in the crowd show the slightest bit of amazement at the impossible feat that just occurred in front of them, indicating that the extras were not directed to react to the special effects.Phaneron
Factual error: There are a lot of comments about the Harrier (technically speaking it is an AV-8B, a slightly different aircraft) flown by Arnold Schwarzenegger, but everyone's missed the obvious one. The terrorist with the AK47 is unaware of the fact that a Harrier is hovering just outside the window until he slowly turns and see it there. He does a double take when he sees the Harrier just five metres away! A Harrier is an incredibly loud aircraft; you can hear them from three kilometers away. At that range the floor would shake with the noise and he would have been in no doubt whatever that he had been under attack for some time.
Continuity mistake: In the film Jeff Douglas is out to kill the five leading kingpins of "the Hand". After he gets the first three, he goes after the last two who are hiding together. But the two fall out and one (Manter) shoots the other one (Kowalski) dead. Later, when he catches up with Manter, he doesn't kill him but lets him live to face justice (though he does die at the end). After catching Manter, he acts like it is the end of his "quest", yet does not know that Kowalski is already dead, and therefore should be out looking for him, not stopping at Manter's capture.
Deliberate mistake: Twice in this film Axel is shot at by multiple gunmen using automatic weapons at close range - and they all miss. In the Earthquake theme ride the bullets ricochet of the rails at Axel's feet. Why are they all aiming low? Why don't they raise their aim? In the park outside he hides behind a perfectly ordinary park bench and the bullets hit the wooden slats. Not one goes through the open spaces between them? I know bad guys can't shoot straight in the movies, but this is ridiculous ...
Deliberate mistake: After the trilithium missile hits the sun, it is shown going out in real time from Veridian III. As the planet is relatively earth-like, it is several light-minutes away from the sun. The filmmakers wanted it to be obvious that the missile was successful, so they ignored the speed of light. Continuity mistake: When Jack Ryan is in his office and hacks into Ritter's computer, he is trying to print out some files before Ritter deletes them. His printer fails to print, and after pulling out the paper drawer of his printer he discovers it is out of paper. Immediately, without closing the drawer, he quickly opens the door to the cabinet beneath the printer, grabs some paper, and the very next shot shows the printer paper drawer has mysteriously closed, so he has to pull it out again to add the paper.
Continuity mistake: After Leon rescues Mathilda from the SWAT team and dodges the snipers, he shoots out a ventilation fan to make an escape route. He gets off two shots before we see the vent, but when it does we see about 7 bullet holes around the vent. Then the camera goes back to Leon as he continues firing. When the camera switches back, the holes around the vent are different. (01:27:05)
Visible crew/equipment: When Angela and Shame are in a car chase from the bad dudes, Shame turns the jeep around 180 degrees and then drives over the bad guys' car. While the jeep is driving off the bad guys' car, you can clearly see the jeep driving off some kind of ramp set behind the car. You can just see them driving down it.
Factual error: We're told they carbon dated the gold to determine its age. Problem is, the gold hasn't aged by the normal processs - as it's been brought forward in time it will appear to be extremely new. As such carbon dating wouldn't work. Also, carbon dating only works on things that were alive and absorbed carbon-14; gold, having never been alive, could not be dated this way.Jon Sandys
