Factual error: When the shop vac shoots the golf ball at Mr. Wilson's gonads, it only affects him for around ten minutes. The shop vac was able to shoot a glob of paint over 50 feet in the air so the speed and impact of the golf ball would have done much more than put Mr. Wilson in extreme pain for a short while. The impact would have likely caused internal bleeding, swelling, causing him to vomit, probably a rupture, requiring him to be hospitalized. There is no way he is walking away from that, he wouldn't even be walking at all.
Factual error: How is it that when Sly comes out of the freezing, icy water, his hair and clothes are bone dry? I don't know too much about hypothermia, but I would imagine that his fairly thin sweater isn't wind proof. I'm sure by the time the movie ended, he would be suffering from more symptoms of hypothermia other than chattering teeth.
Factual error: When Jean-Claude is chased by the helicopter in the woods alongside the river, the man in the helicopter fires a MP5 machinegun, but it causes huge explosions, this is impossible, it's not a grenade launcher!
Factual error: In the scene just before the fight at the O.K. Corral, Wyatt is talking to his brothers and Doc on the porch of the town marshal's office. There is an American flag flying behind him with 50 stars on it when in fact there were only 38 stars on the flag in 1881.
Factual error: For a baseball movie, you would think they would have known the rules of the game better. There is a scene in which Henry uses the "hidden ball trick" to pick a runner off of first base. He stands on the rubber on the mound with only the rosin bag in his hand while the first basemen holds the ball. It is a violation for him to stand on the rubber or straddle it without the ball in his hand and is called a "balk". Technically the runner should have been awarded second base.
Factual error: After Marisa is almost raped by those 2 guys, she wants to be driven to work. Her brother drops her off, but wouldn't give her the car because he had school the next day. But it was the day before Christmas Eve that night, and who has school on Christmas Eve?
Factual error: In at least two scenes, cars from the 1990's can be seen, despite the fact that the film took place two decades earlier. (00:50:00)
Factual error: During one of the scenes, you see a guy on a motorcycle wearing a Misfits jacket. The movie takes place in '76, but the Misfits didn't form until '77.
Factual error: After showing a picture from 1955 when he was eight, the narrator (Shayne) states that he was fifteen by 1962. The story begins with his mother getting fired from her job at a potato chip factory and making the decision that night to move the next morning. The family moves from L.A. to Kingston, Idaho. Shayne's mother Fran tells Mr. Moon that they (she and whatever work her kids do for him around the house) want paid "minimum wage plus 10%" to pay for the land and when she gets hired at the bowling alley she is told the job pays "minimum wage" (plus any tips, which "ain't much"). Idaho did not establish a minimum wage until 1963, a year (or some months) later. The narrator even asserted at the beginning "This is a true story. It really happened to me." (00:20:03 - 00:23:47)
Factual error: When the camera took a shot on a train coming to a station in Czechoslovakia, you can see electric cables above the train tracks. There was no such thing in Czechoslovakia as electrified trains in the 1940's. The electrification started in the 1950's. (00:01:05)
Factual error: Good for effect, but on the jeep when the T-Rex is chasing them and the guy looks in the driver side rearview mirror at the really, really close roar of the T-Rex, it says on the mirror "objects in mirror are closer than they appear." Actually, no driver side mirror has ever had those words on it. That is only applicable to the passenger side rearview mirror. It is due to the difference in the way those two mirrors are made.
Factual error: Near the beginning of the movie the main character's father shoots a man during a card game. He fires 8 shots from a six shot revolver without reloading.
Factual error: During the car chase at the beginning, they are chasing a car on Bigelow Blvd., less than a mile from downtown Pittsburgh and we see a big, brick hill they chase down. This hill is actually in Duquesne, PA more than ten miles south east of Pittsburgh. Then as you're watching they are still in the same area as Bigelow Blvd., in the Polish Hill section of Pittsburgh.
