Continuity mistake: After the Stormtrooper tells Darth Vader the Death Star plans are not in the main computer, when Vader lifts the Rebel off his feet by his throat as the Rebel tells him they intercepted no transmissions, take note of the leg plates on the Stormtrooper to Vader's right. In the wide shot, the Stormtrooper's left leg armor does not have the knee protector plate (it looks as if it's at his right knee because the extra switched them), but in the next closeup the knee plate appears at his left knee, as it should be. The trooper also appears to go from right handed to left handed weapon carry. (00:05:40)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Stromberg is thanking Dr Bechman and Professor Marcovitz he he has a towel in his hand. When the camera changes to another angle that shows the back of his chair his hands are totally empty and resting on an arm of the chair. Then it changes back to the original camera angle and he now has a towel in his hands again.
Continuity mistake: Philippe Noiret is sitting in his chair, drily commenting on the display previously offered by Charlotte Rampling when she was bare-breasted. During the scene, the position of his glasses as he suckles on them changes frequently, and at one point the arms go from folded 90° to less angled/straight as the view changes.
Continuity mistake: Inès the Housekeeper is on the boardwalk looking at the ship and the various passengers that disembark. She waves at Mrs. Susan House when she sees her, and walks up to her, meeting there amongst the passengers who just got off the ship...the same dudes (a man with a striped T-shirt, a guy with an open shirt with white pants, one denim-clad guy with a bag) who were lazing around not too far from her when she was on the promenade. Continuity mistake: The first view of the 2001 Oddyssey Club's billboard reads "Fri Sat Carol Douglas - Next Wk Blue Magic." A few seconds later when the car turns the corner, the artist on the billboard is simply "Monterock." The sign further down the wall about the annual disco contest also changes style, with the letters being closer together. (00:12:08)
