I Hate A Mystery - S1-E10

Character mistake: When Henry is describing the fishing reel he bought for his girlfriend, he said, "with jeweled escarpment" actually it is a 'jeweled esCAPEment" not esCARPment. An escarpment is a long slope off a plateau. An escapement is a latch/release mechanism that you would find on a device like a fishing reel.

Is There Honey Still for Tea? - S8-E3

Character mistake: When Mainwaring and the others are discussing how to break the news to Godfrey about his cottage, it is mentioned that the roof is made of thatch. However when Mainwaring, Wilson and Pike go to visit Godfrey, the roof of his cottage can be seen and it is slate, with no thatch anywhere in sight.

Show generally

Character mistake: In several scenes all over the show (though not always!), characters use the command "Raus!" to send somebody away from somewhere. Raus, short for "heraus" literally means "out" in the sense of "out of a building", which would be "aus einem Gebäude heraus" in German. Used as a command, it always means "get out", never "get away from there" or "get lost", in other words, the addressee must be inside of somewhere to be ordered "Raus." One example would be Schultz sending the prisoners away from general Burkhalter's car in S05E13.

Currahee - S1-E1

Character mistake: In the scene where Captain Sobel is inspecting the soldiers at the beginning of the episode, he goes up to Sergeant Lipton and notices something wrong with his chevrons. Well, in that part, Sergeant Lipton is not standing correctly in the position of attention because he is sort of slouching and his head is in front of his shoulders and the correct position of attention is standing straight up and having your neck behind your shoulders. If he was in the real army, he would have gotten a punishment for not standing at the correct position of attention. (00:09:30)

Show generally

Character mistake: When the boy is brought to camp that was shot, the Corpsman repeatedly states "he's been zipped by 5.56, Marines shot this boy." It was then assumed that Trombley shot the boy with his M240 SAW. The M240 SAW is chambered in 7.62 x 51mm. Either the Corpsman is incorrect or Trombley didn't shoot the boy.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The weapon Trombley uses is a M249 SAW, which is chambered in 5.56mm.

Dedication - S1-E7

Character mistake: When they show the helicopter containing Alpha team, it is a Bell 206 JetRanger, and the sound effects match it, but Brown says "This is the first time I'm on a Huey." The Huey and JetRanger look and sound nothing alike. (03:25:00)
